White cliffs of Dover with POR video: graphics problems
« on: August 31, 2010, 18:41:06 »

Normally my new coputer can handel SSE easily
My graphical settings are reasonably well adjusted.
Have a look to my graphical problems at Dover, white cliffs
I have no problems with the standard viewpoint on the bridge,
it starts with the walkthrough mode, have a look.

At night, POR seems a bit deserted, no lighting, normal?
Are they working on those problems? Or is it just me?

Sorry what is wrong with Dover? It looks like that in real life as well...

Looks like the viewing distance in free walk mode is more reduced than from the bridge view, so it's cutting the scenery out sight.

Hi krisostend,

I believe you refer to the fact that the vision range, in walkthrough mode, is reduced, compared to the range in orbit / helm camera.

This has been reported, and will be corrected in future patches (the next build should already include this modification).

Dover harbor is ok, but look closely at the cliffs around the port.
They are only half visible. This improves as you come closer.

Under Options - Graphics, you can set the visibility distance, right? Can you increase it a bit?

Pjotr,

By visibility distance do you mean clipping distance? There is no visibility distance setting :)
