lol ... RAM is a computers memomry fixed to the motherboard... you have to upgrade it (buy more) cost around £30

You have some spare memory in there since Vista 32bit supports only maximum of 4 gigs of memory minus gfx cards mem, so Vista 32bit can handle usually just 3 gigs of memory.

Hi Eraser74,

Devlopers have a lot to do (as I'm sure you can imagine) but they sometimes pop on the forum although it is kinda rare.

Most of the time information such as that is passed onto staff members such as myself, to relay onto you as we deal with the forum

Hi there guys, I've just aquired a Ship Simulator Extremes Copy and I found out the game is running very slow, about 16fps....

I don't understand why...

Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium x64
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2,40Ghz
Ati Radeon HD 5750 1GB DDR5
3GBRam

Well they state in the manual that a Radeon HD 5850 is the minimum system requirement! Below all that they don´t guarantee that the game works well.

But of course that is way to high for minimum sys requirements, so I think they should at least try to optimise the disgrace that is Questviewer.

Edit: OK, I was wrong the minimum graphics card is a 4850 with 256 mb ram. But the game won´t run with those cards. It´s system requirements are WAY to high.

Well i bought this game... and what a dissapointment... I got Q9000, 4GB DDR3, 1 TB, GF 130m,w7 64bit, and the game is unplayable... i can run starcraft to maxed out, i can run fsx maxed out .... BUT i CANT RUN THIS game ?!?! Poor design... can anyone tell me if i can ask for my money back cuz its riddiciolous...

GT130M is not a very powerful card but SSE is running very well on my older 8800 GTS 640mb with E7400@3.15GHz 4Gb ram and SSD 40Go. So, you should check your driver's options (AA, Aniso, Occlusion...)

I have had no problems with my ship simulator, I run SSE on 8GB or Ram, HD Radeon 5750 and also an 8-Core processor.

Without doubt its your 7 year old video card.  Plus the CPU is only just over the minimum requirements.

To be honest, you really do need a new computer to run SSE.  However, it potentially will cost a lot of money.

if all you want to do is drive ships.  Another idea is to cut your losses and buy a copy of Ship Simulator 2008,  It is just as good as SSE and arguably has better game-play than the current version with a wider variety of playable ships, more downloadable missions and more in-game IA traffic.  It would be perfect for your current machine.

For what it's worth, I'm amazed at the hardware still being used by a lot of folk here.
Nearly all the complaints come from folk with hardware from many years ago.
Old video cards and ancient procs!
Some of the GPUs used by those complaining of slow/choppy speeds are years old and a little searching on the web will show the FPS of these are way down compared with later models.

Sure older games will render smoother, that's to be expected, these older cards were made for older games.
These days with more and more data and coding being used means, unfortunately, that one must update hardware. SSE Extremes is right up there with the top 3D games and to experience it's beauty and gameplay one must use "proper" GPU cards. And just because a GPU is new does not mean it is sufficient. It must be powerful as well. In Australia you would be expecting to pay around $400 for such a card.
You will be amazed at the difference.
