Greeting!!!!!!

Hello dear friends. I am start to make NEW Project ( NEW 3D model ship ). This is Russian icebreaker MS KAPITAN KHLEBNIKOV. This is modern and famous powerfull ship on Russian polar Fleet.

SHIPBOARD INFORMATION

The KAPITAN KHLEBNIKOV was built in Finland in 1981 and is one of three vessels of this class. Not simply an ice-reinforced ship, the Kapitan Khlebnikov is a powerful polar class icebreaker, which has sailed to extremely remote corners of the globe with adventurous travelers since 1992. No other expedition vessel has navigated more polar waters. It was the first ship ever to circumnavigate Antarctica with passengers in 1996-97.

The ship's interior provides passenger facilities necessary for excellent comfort, with accommodations in 54 first class outside cabin and suites. The vessel carries a maximum of 112 passengers.

So, this is a NEW project who I am start to make, parallel with MS BERGE STAHL, and after finish BERGE STAHL ( for a few days) I am ready to 100% apply to this Ship.

looks like a great ship, the cruise ship i just came off of, had 4 main engines with each engine producing 20,000hp doesn't really compare to the ice breaker, but theres a big size difference, anyway can't wait to see it done.

You are Innovative and Fast indeed!!

Now....just for a couple meters of ice to break through in Ship Sim.

I just had to share these shots with the rest of the community.... just to show how great a job you're doing on the hull!!

ps - Master Captain you raise an interesting topic...just a side comment; the KAPITAN KHLEBNIKOV is rather modest in power since she is a commercial Icebreaker. Indeed some older government operated conventional icebreakers have tremendous power. I recently had the opportunity to visit the US Coast Guard's icebreaker Polar Star in Seattle. She's built like tank! and once up in the ice, she can disengage her diesels and couple one aero-derivative gas turbine to each of her 3 shafts. So figuring each turbine is giving at least 20,000 - 25,000 hp per shaft x 3, that's pretty impressive for a vessel that's just over 100m with a displacement of only 13,000Lt. Interestingly and not surprisingly she had no ballast tanks...only bunkers and fresh water

Some of the old Russian Nuclear icebreakers have even more power but that's obviously a totally different story.
