Don't worry OD, there will be plenty more cruise ships in Curacao, also it's better to say let down instead of down letted.

It's a while since I was in Sceveningen yes, but as far as i know the Royalist is still sailing, she is a sail training ship operated by the sea cadets in the UK, I used to sail on her occasionally as the engineer for a week at a time.

More info here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TS_Royalist)

An engineer on a sailing ship... did you blow the sails if the wind was gone?

Haha, yeah, it's not exactly the most taxing job in the world, she does have 2 "main engines" and 2 generators (both are about the size of a lorry engine, but the whole point is that they try really hard not to use them apart from manoeuvring in and out of port (and they occasionally do even that without engines).

There is of course something to do every day even if it is repairing a leaky tap in the galley.  The permanent engineer at the time when I used to sail on Royalist wasn't particularly great with electrics, so I used to spend quite a lot of my time on board looking at electrical faults.  I also used to do a bit of sailing as well.

Must be a complete different life.

I always have great respect for the engineers who can find those nasty electric faults, especially when they walk around like Sherlock Holmes with a spyglass (metaforically  :P) and a fault finder.
