The Mtide Taurus in the safe harbour, one week ago her anchor didn't hold anymore due to the bad sea conditions, after she had drifted almost 3miles to shore the lifeboat assisted her and anchored her again at a safe distance.

Ahh, by the looks of those crains, they're working on some new buildings on Kop van Zuid. Where the hell can you decently park your car when the parking lots are now taken down one by one...

I mean, that large building on the left (first picture with Zuiderdam) used to be a parking lot, LOL.

Today was finally the day that the mighty Harmony of the Seas made her maiden call and probably her only call to Rotterdam.
I knew that she would be huge (due to the Oasis last year at Rotterdam) but when you stand next to her you really see how huge she is

Hi Salty,
I am not sure what the width of the river is at Holland America Kade, nor if the scaling is correct in SSE. But "Oceana" is said to be 397m long against "Harmony of the Seas" at 362m. So could it be that such a ship could turn as in my picture? Gently easing off the quay, using all her 4 fancy thrusters and 3 main azipod drives to come gently astern and then easing her stern into the entrance to the Rijnhaven astern of her. I feel sure also that a giant like that would have tugs in attendance too. If the depths are dredged OK it looks as if this could be done right there. However, like you, I would very much like to know if it is done here or elsewhere.

The big vessels will reverse from the Wilhelminkade to the Waalhaven where they will turn, sometimes (like the Koningsdam last week) they are turning at the Waalhaven at their arrival and then reverse to the wilhelminakade.

In the night of friday/saturday the UK-254 "Antje" sunk in the harbor, she was lifted again saturday afternoon.

Monday or tuesday will be a very nice day, the second largest trawler of the world the SCH302 Willem van der zwak will arrive for the first time in her homeport since she was build in 2000 and rebuild after a huge fire in 2007/2009

today after years of waiting and hoping if this vessel ever come to her homeport, she finally made her maiden-call to Scheveningen, the Willem van der Zwan, 2nd largest trawler in the world.

some specifications:
build: 2000
length: 142,5m
width: 18,7 m
capacity: between 250.000 and 300.000 boxes of fish (25 kilograms each)

demolished in 2007 by a huge fire and rebuild in 2008/2009 from the tanktops to the masts.
