Ah, more BF2 lovers here! That's cool! If you ever run into =[WoW]=Jetta, that's me.
I'm member of the =[WoW]= (Warriors of the World) clan, and love to play BF2 and DCon. Don't like 2142 really.
Offcourse we have our own dedicated DCon-server and clan-forum.

See you in the sand! ;)

Allowing global unlocks when some players may not have a great choice of unlocked abilities/weapons, may be unfair.

It's a war simulation, General DJM. War is inherently unfair. It's about cunning, guile, damned good luck. Who needs great weapons. Just fists, and a slingshot and I'll fight you all. On the beaches, in the street and I will NEVER surrender.

Me? No! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Not funny.

As for Churchill, I think we can learn from him. Not just as a war leader, but a brave bloke with a great deal of intelligence, humour and political wisdom. Although he WAS voted the greatest Britain... I checked my passport shows me as British, so I've demanded a recount...

I don't use unlocks anyway, check my stats ;)

I have found that when a ranking and unlocks element is introduced into a supposedly 'team' game, the team aspect flies right out of the window.

I have been TK'ed on many occasions by players trying to increase their stats, my Brother actually spotted one killing me just so he could get my Heli....tk'er is a Team-Killer for those who don't know (someone on the same team who kills YOU, instead of the enemy).

If you also have a look at my scores on my BF 2 stats, I have a low accuracy and combat score total.  My Teamwork score is double my Combat score ;)

Why is this?

I am a team player and get caught in the thick of the action, resupplying, reviving etc.  In this situation, getting shot is inevitable, but I play my part as a 'Team Member', not as someone out to get the next 'rank' or 'unlock' :D

Regards.

I agree he was a great Briton (sic) :P

As for the recount......hmm.......not sure that would go down too well with the populace :P

I've slightly altered the topic title on this post as some of us also play Battlefield 2142 ;)

As an extra point, I am unable to host a server for any of these games at the moment, I am having trouble with my ISP.  Average peak (6-11pm UK time) rate is 40kb/sec on an 8mb connection, so I am currently 'going to town' on them.

I've also added the Director of the company as a Bcc (Blind-Carbon-Copy) on my emails to the company lol.......with any luck he will get annoyed and cancel my contract, then I will choose a better provider ;)

Well if you want a proper fight then ArmA is the best.  Or at least once you've patched it.

I actually tried the demo of ArmA, I didn't like it to be honest.  I thought the inertia on the character was way too extreme.  The controls also seemed a little 'twitchy' ::)

Maybe it's just me though ;)

The inertia is meant to portray the fact that real soldiers don't run around with their weapon permanently raised pointing ahead of them like a new nose.

Plus the demo was horribly buggy.  Even more so than the unpatched base game.  The latest round of patches have improved the game greatly and missions triggers no longer fail infuriatingly.  There's even an EP on it''s way.

Maybe it's just me, but I was left with the feeling, 'Is this how a duck would walk, if it were carrying a gun'......waddle over here, waddle over there, shoot that other waddling person :P

I am very fussy with my games though ;)

Hmm, I have no problems with it but I suppose the important thing is not to use the crosshairs or aim-dot-thingy as an indication of where you're going.  Which is usually the natural thing to do with other games.
