A day in NY Harbour! (56k Warning!!)
« on: September 15, 2009, 16:42:07 »

Hi Everyone!!
Well I thought I'd share the pictures I took sunday, when I was down at the marina!

Not sure if I need a 56k warning  :-\ , anyways Enjoy! ;)
This is the ferry my dad captains on, a bit boxy but  theres alot worse

A busy day in the harbor, notice the ferries at the new terminal across the river.

Empire state building ahead, chrysler building to the far right (shiny) and the back of the colgate clock far left

Something you dont see everyday (here that is)

A nice view of the city and some fools that shouldnt be driving boats

Walkway in LSP (Liberty State Park)

 Navy Vessel

Statue of Liberty Vessel

Tallest Building in NJ goldman Saxx

The Ferry headed to manhattan with the Empire State Building in View

Some Choppers flying where the towers used to be RIP

Norweigan Dawn haded out for its weekly cruise headed past World Financial Center

Some of the smaller boats in the marina   If you like the outside you should see the inside (yes ive been on it  ;)

You know your speedboats too big when you need a semi to pull it

Hope you enjoyed these!
Cheers,
Matt

New York City is very big, as big as the future ship, Freedom Ship. I would have enjoyed NY if My family has a free month ;D Even better to see the new World Trade Center which is due in a couple of years.

Hello Capt. Matt,
Very nice pictures, many thanks.
You labeled the 7th picture as that of a French Navy vessel? It looks more like an Arleigh Burke class destroyer, her hull number DDG-64 being that of USS Carney. A nice ship anyway

I wasnt too sure to be honest, I saw that her flag was red white and blue (Not sure in what order of if it was vertically or horizontally)  My dad mentioned something about them being dutch, but I think you would know more than we would

Why she would have carried a Tango flag (Red white blue, not blue white red) is a mystery to me. Under Quebec (yellow), it would have meant something like stay at a distance of my anchoring. But the identity cannot be mistaken, thanks to the obvious funnels ... 4 gas turbines. Also, the silhouette is well known, alas, due to the many pictures of USS Cole.  :(

The frigate in the background is indeed Dutch, one of the Multipurpose frigates of the Karel Doorman's class, that can be seen in a ShipSim Pro advertising.
Thanks for the pictures,
