Afternoon cookiebox, anyone up for some SS08?
*waves to the list of people viewing the cookiebox, including ballast and TFM*
Also, does anyone know which forum mod it is that has the "supercomputer"? the one that was used to take those early SSE screenshots? I'm quite interested in its specs, and I want to build my own!

For a much cheaper way there is: Photoshop!  ;)

I know that, but I heard that those fancy pics were from a pre beta version, Which Is why I'm asking what the PC's specs were

The video was made with a ATI Radeon HD 5870 3D card, all graphics at max settings. ATI driver at 8xAA and 8XAF. Framerate between 15 and 30, lowered a but by Fraps capturing. Resolution 1280x720, windowed.

I couldn't find anything about the other specs of it

And they removed the in game cool camera and we're told to use FRAPS in a game that already strucclges with FPS in even high spec systems?  :-\

I'm not sure how much extra load FRAPS puts on a machine? I don't think it's much, I don't experience any difference. I always used FRAPS, because of the poor quality of the pics when using the in-game function  :)

I think the impact of having MSN, Skype and such programs running in the background is of more influence then FRAPS though  ;)

It depends on weither fraps is recording or not, if fraps is in idle the impact is minimal, but if fraps is recording, then the framerate is halfed, because the video card is in effect rendering everything twice (once for the screen, then again for fraps)

Forgive me my ignorance, but wouldn't an in-game capture function do the same?

No, because A ingame capture would just have to take a bunch of screenshots, because the thing its recording is already rendered (I think) But fraps needs the image rendering THEN capturing. (Or atleast thats how it used to work...  ::))

I don't know, thank God i have more knowledge of ships

I always thought it was just a gadget to have an in-game capture function.
