Dum de dum..

Emma Maesk enters Rotterdam..
Wait, how on Earth did you modify Ship Simulator Extremes? Are the game files no longer encrypted, or did you manage to crack the code?

Or did he simply edit the photo in a photo editing program and changed the black hull colour to Maersk blue? ::)

Does look very realistic though :)

Well the EULA really doesn't leave much room for doubt...  :P

There's nothing that will be done to stop you, as such, I would think. So for personal use, people can of course go ahead and do it, but legally it's not allowed. And you will forfeit the right to technical support if you modify the game.

Plus, if you use the liveries of companies that do not give Vstep permission to use their designs or ships, then you could cause a lot of trouble when you go and post these thigns here, on other fora, or maybe even youtube. Keep that in mind aswell...

how would a v-step train sim look? :) or even better a ship sim combined with a train sim

first you ride the train engine on the ship sail somewhere and continue by land!

Then VSTEP would be in competition with Vehicle Simulator - probably not a good idea :)

Hmmm...

I am assuming GKN Aerospace are the design owner...

But they are more in the aviation industry:

Quote
GKN Aerospace is a First Tier supplier to the global aviation industry, working on every major fixed and rotary-wing aerospace platform. A leader in composite and metallic technologies, our business is equally focused on military and civil markets.

So the SRN4 plans would not be of much use to them...

Could someone, theoretically speaking, buy the design off of them...? Be the new design owners?

Theorethically, yes.

But it might be a joined ownership with the actual builder and the operator, perhaps, there's more than one thing at play, there's a vessel desing, but also a livery and likeness of a company.. And it's not a few tenners, to buy a piece of paper and be done with it. There's an awful lot more to it I would think. Specially with 'unique' kinda specimens, that made historie in some way or form.

Even if companies do not use old designs anymore, they are normally not keen on selling them to just about anyone. You're better off obtaining a permission from them to use it for your project, I think.
