funny, I'm certified to drive on the motorway, but I've never tried it, I'm probably going to annoy some people when I go on a trip somewhere

I've been driving about 3-4000 miles (swedish miles, not american!) on both highways and normal roads, been driving for over 2 years now

watt shall i say i have been driving around the equator 10 times sins i got my license back in the 70th's

have on me in about 600 000 000 000 km of road that i have driven sins i started, 18 wheelers, busses taxi etc and newer got a ticket

Well it's an A-road, but it's universally agreed that you drive at 70 on it.

when you start driving, do you go directly on the road, or do you have to practice in one of those fenced areas?

Well, you go to a quiet suburb and practise the simple stuff for about 5-10 hours, then you move on to a quiet road, then a slightly busy road, then a main road.

I was allowed to drive home through several busy roads after just 2 hours (my first lesson).

I think it should be mandatory for all students to see this. And maybe even throw in some wrecked cars. We go too softly on new drivers these days.

I attended an excellent 'lecture' where members of the public, and members of the emergency services tell of their experiences of fatal crashes.

It works, but there isn't enough of it.

In Sweden it is mandatory.
I've also been in a simulator when you sit in a car that flips over.
These things are mandatory in sweden
