Greets all,

Mum noticed this which is in ALDI at the moment..

http://www.medion.com/ms/aldi/md8339/uk/?refPage=aldi

It seems quite a nice computer, but I lack the knowledge to say how it would fair with say, Ship Sim Extremes, or future versions.

What is everyones opinion on it?

Jack.

My opinion, (which is not an expert one) is that straight away I'm put off by the Intel cpu... but that is a matter of personal opinion which is probably not best discussed here, huh?

My advice would be to look at PCWorld, Staples, Currys (some really good deals there!!!) and compare features/price. This doesn't include a monitor, remember (at least I don't recall seeing it)

EDIT: One other point... Backup support. If it fails, you won't get a replacement as no doubt it is a limited availability offer. What are Aldi like on honouring refunds etc if it fails (question, not statement).

Just because something is cheap, it doesn't guarantee it's a bargain.

I agree with Stuart, having made the mistake in 2008 of buying a PC from PC World in 2008, their after service 'sucks' took them nearly three weeks to replace the hard drive in my HP after it failed.

I should have bought from John Lewis who always guarantee their prices are 'never knowingly undersold' and who's aftersales service I understand from two friends, is superb!

I agree, I would also be wary from buying from Aldi for example..But I was just curious,

John Lewis - I did find a computer there which looked rather decent, but again, would you guys take a quick look for me and post your opinion on it?
