Quote
Geographically, the West of Russia is in Europe but the East is in Asia.
However, Russia is classified as a European nation because:
It was established in Europe (before it expanded into Asia)
Its culture is Eastern European
Its history is closer to Europe's than Asia's (for example, it has had more interactions with other European countries, rather than Asian countries)
Russian people are Caucasian, generally speaking, and NOT "Asiatic", in racial background.
72% of Russia's population live in the European part

Just found this on WikiAnswers, it explains a lot as I've always thought Russia to be in Asia but yet they still appear in European sporting events and even the music event Eurovision.

I don't think anything outside of America IS a big story to Americans... Except, perhaps, X factor and its ilk... :o

You WM

Since it went missing in the Dover Straits, is now a good time to suggest Dover-Calais in the same environment so that we can re-create the incident...

If it is a good time to suggest Dover-Calais in the same environment so that we can re-create the incident, please DO let me know and I'll suggest it here.

Well the Crew are safe, so I feel it is a good time to advocate the possibilty of a Dover-Calais Environment so we can reenact this event.

Meanwhile, does anyone know what actually happened?

I mean I know people with GPS get a little lost sometimes, end up driving down railway lines but...

It would be a good training tool for Vstep- a 'what to do if your ship is hijacked in the Dover Straits'. Preferably stage it on a ferry between Dover and Calais, of course.

I hope the Arctic Sea didn't go down a railway line by mistake... I mean, I know that once we used to have boat trains in this country, but not QUITE like that... BTW on the subject of railways, there is a MSTS model of Dover Marine station, and one for Calais SNCF station; it's a real shame there isn't a ferry simulator to link those two rail simulators together....
