AIS spotting ...
« on: May 24, 2009, 20:51:51 »

Hi guys,

it's been a long time I haven't posted on this forum ! not so much time those days ... Maybe some of them already know this, maybe even has it been talked on this forum, anyway !

Thanks to the AIS you can spot every ship (equipped of course) all around the world :

http://ais3.siitech.com/VTSLite/AView.aspx

You juste have to enter the MMSI ident of the ship you're looking for, and this is it. And off course, if you don't know the MMSI, here's the search engine :

http://www.itu.int/cgi-bin/htsh/mars/ship_search.sh#start

For example, the MMSI of the Pride of Rotterdam is 244980000

enter this code on the first website, and you'll get the current position of the PoR, her heading and speed ...

wonderful toy, isn't it ?!

regards,

Denis

Pretty good site you have found, it will come in useful for when I want to find ships that aren't near the UK.

Another site is ShipAIS, has the history of ships for well... years! I Often use it and the beta site is pretty damn brilliant too!
