Thanks very much, all this really means a lot. Some things on my ship neededs more details. Such as this object. If anyone could find out what it is, or pictures of it to help me add more details, that would be great.

Winch control room & tourist class stair hall.
That picture shows cranes on top of the 'box'. Was this true? Perhaps a pcitures could be showed to me and I could model the cranes right now.

Can someone find a picture of cranes? I never noticed them in any pictures of mine. Also, I might post an update in a second. Might.
Edit: After looking at this picture for much time, I decided to re size my forward masts. I still don't think that they are thick enough though. Ant the tops, don't worry about them, I will work on that later.

Heres an overall progress shot. I will start adding some basic percentages in the first post. I just emailed the ship's designer's granddaughter. I know her email address. She never responds to me though.

No Mike, I have not seen it. Thanks very much for that. I will check it out right now.
Edit: More mast work but it is paying off! Were there lights up there?

I am sure a lot of your thoughts of that is the awkward angle. If I knew exactly where they were I would start the cranes but I keep getting mixed reports. :'(

Ok, that picture is here right? And the cranes are not part of the mast, but they are part of that thing that has no detail? (lol)

Right, but derrick attached to the mast but not to that undetailed "box".  ;D Make something like that:

Thanks Diamant. That illustration helped. Also, does anyone know anything about the aft masts?

Ok. I like her on google earth. Looks nice. Well I mean, nice view. The ship is far from nice. I would model it right now, but I am going to leave soon. I will model it when I get back.
Edit: Ok, I have the background image set up. Will start it right now! :) :) (This music is so awesome to listen to when you model, it is a very good video too)

(Sorry for the double post but I had to because of attachments)
I started on the cranes. Have not added any detail yet though.
Please note: It appears to be getting bigger as it gets toward the bow. It does not, that is jus tbecause of the camera angle.
EDIT: Here is another update.

model is looking great, now http://classicliners.nicholaswwilson.com/ships/united-states.htm (http://classicliners.nicholaswwilson.com/ships/united-states.htm) that is a great reference for the "Big U" its also an awesome reference for all kinds of old classic liners i've posted that site many times here and its very useful. One thing i love about the United states is that sucker is fast! 38kn :o thats faster than my bowrider as 38kn comes to roughly 43mph and my boat tops at 40 :P

Actually, she went faster than that during her speed trials. Let me find that bookmarked page. I will post it here in a second.
EDIT
Quote from: Sea trials report.
The ship was put through the rigors of crash stops, full rudder tests, and stability tests.  Mechanical tests were also performed.  The ship even traveled in reverse at a phenomenal speed of 20 knots, nearing the top forward speed of the ill-fated Titanic.  The ship is reported to have reached an astonishing top speed of 43 knots for a brief period of time, outpacing a speeding Navy Destroyer!  The SS United States performed beautifully in gale force winds and moderately rough seas.  Roll and vibration was minimal, and the ship remained very stable at high speed.  The ship met or exceeded all performance specifications, and even exceeded the expectations of William Francis Gibbs himself.

And they did very fast annula overhauls on her. An overhaul could be completed in 10 days max.

It does have a consistent diameter. But I will look at that drawing.
Edit: Added windows. 2d faces for now but not for long.

Thanks a lot Nathan. I just barely made them 3d. I was thinking, should I texture them or colorize them?

Textures are detailed...but poly heavy....colours aren't too demanding..but lack detail  ;)

If this is for SS, detail is good, so i'd go textures

I don't know if you could say poly heavy, because they are not part of the model. Anyways, here is an updated hull. I would say it is VERY close (I did that without blueprints, wait till I get hull prints)
(I don't feel like rendering right now) If anyone could find pictures to compare to of this hull, that would be great.

 ;D ;D ;D
You don't know how much this pleases me. I will add a rendered textured shot in a sec. I only have to bow done so far. I am making the tex right now.
Even though this is just a test tex, I am beginning to get very exited! ;D ;D The final texture will be far better than this. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks a lot Minime. Here is another. Don't worry about that weird bit at the prow. I will fix that later.
