My self have a 18 - 55 lens, 35 -55 zoom lance  + 55 - 250 mm lens and a 500 mm lens and a macro lens at 20mm nearly a fish eye and i have also a tele converter that give me 2.5 times more view  
and canon D5 and all lens are the new canon stabilizer lens
I will post some of my pictures soon, and see watt best, canon or nikon :thumbs:

yes it is, and weary steady and with long lucking time you can take fantastic  pictures, i took a pictures from the night shy and had it open for 3 hours and you see the moon and stars move
bdw in this picture i used a star filter

3 hour shutter speed?

My camera can only do 30 second as the longest.

Well my D40 is the cheapest DSLR that Nikon makes, so I don't think we can compare them. :)

Sweet! I would like a D5000 or something but not going to pay more for a camera then my truck is worth. Maybe when I turn 16 and I can start making money from my photography I can think of a better camera like a D80 or something.

Good Man Tore a Canon  :thumbs: I saw on your christmas list was a 300mm lense, my uncle is a pro photographer he has a 400mm lense He uses a  canon EOS 1Ds http://in-focus.cc/ theres his site if your interested

Get a cable release and switch to the "BULB" setting and that allows for unlimited exposure to the life of the battery. BULB is usually under full manual settings under shutter speed, take a look ;)
