Here's a little trick that you might want to try if you're bored in MP;

While doing full speed with any ship (Works best with Vermaas or Latitude) click the anchor symbol (It should say "Please Slow to under 5kn" or similiar. However, place your mouse over where the blue anchor circle would be if you were doing under 5kn, and press F5. At the moment you press F5, the blue circle should flash up for half a second no matter what speed you're doing. So..., press F5 again, and at the same time, click on the blue circle with your mouse, and the anchors should fall. Pretty amazing to do with a Container Ship at 25kn...

That's one way to completely copy someones post, and take the credit  ;)

I tried it with the Sherpa, didn't work.  It only works best with PoR, Vermass, Latiude, and Titanic.
Yeah best with big ships! Thank god that we only do these things virtually not in real life! :)

I tried with RJ4, but it wasn't very interesting - it dipped slightly, but that was it.

Now, with the Freedom 90...

It flips over, very acrobatically, lands upside down, and then, if you release the anchor, you can still drive at about 20 knots!

Have you ever noticed when you can see the proppelers that when you are shut off the engines on POR, Speedboat, ETC the proppelers are going, but it wont make speed. a kind of funny i think ;D

Just a minor bug i say - And to all those who complain that the Pride of Rotterdam's propellors don't spin the other way when going astern..she has Variable Pitch, so they always spin that way..

I dont like how you cant get underwater shots without messed around with the camera, or a free roam camera, would be nice. Also, I do nit pick tiny things, but when you turn engines off, shouldn't the propellers still be spinning for a little while? But if you look, when powered down, the propeller animation is almost instantly stopped, or reversed if reversing.

And little thing about the PoR, Why is she so hard to control? It seems that they response time is horrible, I was very far behind a Vermass, leaving the PoR terminal, and if I didn't turn I would of eventually hit the side of the waterway, so, judging from other ship, I turned the wheel at the time I would other ships, but it took so long to start turning, I hit the wall.
Then, I was pretty far behind the Vermass, and I started turning to avoid it, but after a while I noticed she was barely turning at all, so I reversed starboard engine, and full port engine, full bow thruster to starboard and full rudder, and it barely turned by the time I hit the Vermas, then I sink..and failed the mission   :-X

Is this how the PoR reacts in real life? Im not sure, if so, could someone explain to me the reason behind it? I would really like to know ^^

For PoR, you can donwload the self-installing update from Creators Forum. The Vessel Dynamics Engineering Team re-worked it a few months ago.

That changes the handling. The feedback has been very good.

If you don't like the current dynamics (1.4.2) for the PoR, you can overwrite the current dyn file with the old 1.4 file (This has been approved by VSTEP). Or, you can download the new improved dyn at the creators forum.

This probably is no way enough information to make dynamics for a vessel, but the Captain of POR commented that the ship turns very quickly in reality too. After mentioning SS2008, he said it was great that they could get the ship model spot on, but was a shame that the dynamics could not be accuratetly re-created (P&O's fault really for never sending the original dyn report)

I noticed something for PoR, in 1.3 and older, her stering was good but in 1.4.2 and 1.4.1(new horizons) her steering is AAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLL. so I suggest that everyone with that prob go get that steering thing from the creator forum pronto!

Or, you can download the 1.4 dynamics from this topic (Reply no. 17)

http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,9277.0.html

Just overwrite the old one with this new file.
