Oh my god! How could i have forgotten that she was retiring this month!  :o Its sad to see her go :(, i wish i had the privelege to go on her atleast once  :( :( :(
But now that she's retiring, there wont be 4 ships in the Cunard Fleet! why couldnt they wait another 2 years! MS Queen Elizabeth comes in 2010!
I always thought Cunards fleet was small...but the ships sizes make up for that! :D

Thats what is special about cunard I think, Exclusivity, with some of the best and largets passenger ships in the world.
Because Cunard  ships truly are, the Most famous Ocean liners, in the world.

It made me cringe when i heard they were going to "rip out" her decks..

I think it would of been better to convert her into a Museum, Hotel and Restaraunt in Southampton, keeping as much original as possible. Might have upped the tourism a bit..

At the end of the day Southampton City Council did not offer to pay $100,000,000 for her, or anything in fact!!

Definitely a very sad day. Such a graceful and elegant vessel. It is a true loss top the Cruise Industry.  :(

Thats great. I think on November 26th We should get as many people as possible to temporarily change their avatars to the QE2. That would be great.

Have changed my Avatar to QE2, as well, great idea  :)

It wasnt the bramble bank!  She run aground on the north side of the Thorn Channel.

Check the AIS plot here.....http://www.ais-live.co.uk/News/shippingnews.html (http://www.ais-live.co.uk/News/shippingnews.html)

It wont be there for long (the page is updated daily) - you may have a week!

I guess most of you can't get German tv, but for anyone who can, tomorrow evening (Sunday) there will be a special about the last voyage to Dubai. It's called "Abschied von Atlantik" (Goodbye to the Atlantic)
18.30-19.00  on ZDF...

Right then, this will be the last evening the QE2 will ever sail in. Tomorrow is the final day of QE2. Farewell to her, one of the greatest ocean liners ever to sail. I think we should all celebrate her life, and we should all have our avatars changed to the QE2 for tommorrow, as a sign of respect. Goodbye QE2, a true ocean liner.

Kind regards, RMSGB

Agreed with Terry, Scrapping is just...bad. But they have to get rid of the ship sometime.
