4gb ram
8800 320mb Gts  (it's the bottleneck im sure!)
2.4ghz dual.... probably also a bottleneck..
XP sp2  (and yes.. i know it only finds 3.2 gigs of ram.. hehe)
If yer on an Nvidia card, you might check out Nhancer, external proggy in which you can set/override graphicssettings for any game!   Just make sure you know what what is, as setting all of them to the highest wont improve every game, but it can help some games out,

furthermore there's a program called Rivatuner out there, i use one of it's features located in the tools folder, it's called d3doverrider and runs on the bottom right of yer desktop when clicked(it gives a thump-sound from windows when a game is engaged. It seems to clear out memory from your graphicscard or normal ram, it made my GTLegends run much smoother, haven't tried it in shipsim yet as it runs fine as is, but it might help some ppl who expirience a touch of lag at times. (your system freezing for a milisecond or even longer..)
Current version i have is 2.09 of rivatuner.. allthough i've never started rivatuner up itself, i think it's Nvidia again, so sorry ATI guys... dont think itll work.

Steiny

It runs perfectly.

I only have to turn the viewdistance back a bit on very crowded missions in the larger environments like Rotterdam, but then again the 7900GT is not the best card out there. I can live with that, it works brilliantly otherwise.

Ahoy Sealords (and Spambot)
Intel Pentium 4, 3 GHz Dual Processor
2 Gigabyte Ram
NVidia GForce 7600GT 512 MB Memory
SB X-Fi Audio
XP Home SP2

SS08 runs like clockwork with most graphic options as high as possible. Only in Hamburg Harbour I have to screw down to about 70% in the graphic options.

Intel core2Duo E6600 @2.40Ghz (my personal bottleneck)
4GB Samsung "original" 800Mhz RAM (I think)
Nvidia GeForce 9800Gx2 (I think that's winning so far)
XP home Ed. SP3 (downloaded itself one day)
Realtek HD audio

SS08 runs great, get refresh rate framerates in atlantic, sometimes on some dodgy server framerate drops to about 18 in marseille harbour but its mostly high 20s and 30s.

As of today I'm using

System 1:
8800 GTX
4GB RAM
Dual 3.6 GHZ (Intel) processor

System 2:
8600 GT
4 GB RAM
Quad core 3.8GHz (Intel) processor

I keep all background services to an absolute minimum and don't allow other applications to run in the background.

Runnning XP mainly, but dual boot into Vista with slightly lower frame rate

Terry is winning now, simply because of his CPUs
EDIT: I can't find a 3.6 or a 3.8 ghz processor on intel's website (core2duo bit)

You have to bear in mind that due to my tecchiness, I often have processors that are being made ready for release or which never make it to market for various reasons. The design section of one of the biggest chip manufacturers is a client of mine....

No problems with anything that I run on them. I suspect that at least two of the quad processors never get up, and just pie around drinking lager all day. I think the third one only works part-time.

Have you got trackmania? I'm pretty sure that uses more thanone core, cos when i go back to look at task manager after playing, it peaks at around about 100% on my dual core. Also, FSX with the service pack (apparently, I don't have it)scales across all cores, so try that out with them. Uh oh. Off topic, sorry. Better continue this conversation in a new topic or PM or just not.
