Yes,the trusters you need!!
If you go into the harbour and turn, you need them!!
Unless you turn your ship outside the harbour,and go astern inside.This offcource counted more for Calais than Dover.

Maneuvering the Pride of Rotterdam in Dover & Calais without the Stern thruster should be routine.  None of the current P&O ships have a stern thrusters and I do not believe from looking at the construction photographs that the two new builds which are bigger than the Pride of Rotterdam have one either.

The whole of the Norfolkline and Seafrance fleet have stern thrusters, and the newbuilds are smaller than the Pride of Rotterdam.

My mistake, was reading lane meterage, however: Pride of Rotterdam 215.1m x 31.5m x 6.05m, Spirit of Britain 213m x 31.4m x 6.5m

So not larger but not really smaller.  And agreed both Norfolkline & Seafrance have them and surprising they are the ones that have more issues with maneuvering.

About the seporated ruddersystem,and a more extended bridgeconsole(woauw)that soulds good!!!

you can always display the controls as an overlay with Tab when you are on the bridge wing

Good to hear that the stern thruster of PoR will be deleted and replaced by a separated rudder system. I think VStep is doing a great job (and really listens to what customers have to say).

These explanations from Pjotr are satisfying for me. As for the wing controls I did not or only rarely use them in SS08. I always had/have the overlay controls switched on, and do usually control she ships with the keyboard.
