Pioneer RDX750
5 Channel
1000 Watts per channel RMS
Each channel with independent volume and 12 station graphics equaliser

Speakers are also Pioneer, standing 4.5 feet high (about 1.5metres) and 3 foot wide (about 1 metre) in solid wooden cabinets.

Its recording studio equipment, not your average home hi-fi system. I've had it for many years. All linked to 32 track digitial and midi recording system.

Nice gear Terry, should shake the house if you turn it up ;D  What does your AMP kick out then? 4/8 ohms?? If you've got 1000W RMS then you can peak at 2000W but it depends what ohms your running and what your speakers run at.

Should be fun playing ShipSim though! ;D

I have NEVER turned it up past about the second notch. The walls shake at that point. Actually that's not quite true. I did once take it all to a friend's open-air birthday party. We had it one-third-way up, but blew out a couple of woofers in his field.

Speakers are 8R, but that's what the system is designed for. V=IR, P=VI etc, so speaker impedance is actually irrelevant since amplifier output is matched to the speakers. Yes, about 2000W "music" or "peak" power (I hate those terms, so imprecise)

lol I hope you live in a detached house, can't annoy the neighbours too much, have the police round ;D

I must admit, we've got single glazed windows here, and when I turn my sound system up quite high it actually shakes the floor and the windows :D

I hate how complicated the AMPS and speakers thing all works. I've had it explained to me a number of times and still can't remember exactly how it is  ::)

That's the problem with open air events, you can't actually tell if your speakers are pushing to the max as much as if you were indoors. Watch your clipping LED's and VU's  ;D

The main problem was that my mate had obtained what he thought were 1000W speakers, but they were only 1000W peak, not RMS. So I took them out at around 30-40% power. That cost him quite a few ha'pennies!

Actually he was OK. We had been messing around building electronic "thingies" since we were kids. Having blown up half of the UK's electrical systems at various stages, this was no great surprise to him.

'D:' Will not always be your CD-ROM drive. It could be any letter and you can assign it to any letter too. Graeme, have you tried using a different CD in your drive to make sure there's nothing wrong with your drive???

You should probably take this to Technical Support.

Post a full description of what you've done and what happened (or didn't). Including if you've successfully launched other CD-based installers since trying the NH disk [hint!].

If you put diesel into a gasoline tank you ruin the engine  ;)
