What is the max poly count?

attached a picture of the polycount of TFM`s bridge and i think it`s a little bit to detailed.

For a building like this bridge it would be 2000 Vertics, so we have 179 Vertics more than we need. It would be great, if you could optimize it a bit. But we should also ask TFM.

Here is an other update:

I have done one of the most famous buildings in Venice, the St Mark's campanile
It is very low poly modelled (only 168 vertics) but the realistic texture maks it looking very detailed.

I hope you like it.

Here is my daily update:

A depot building for the big commercial port. It doesn't look very nice but it looks like the real building.

I hope you like it.

It would be also nice to see some more buildings, bridges etc. from someone else.

Joey

PS: My aim is to do one building per day for the next weeks.  ;D

Just go to google earth there the whole city is in 3d but we can't use that models. So you pick up a house, bridge etc. and model it. To get the right proportions you can try to get the house in your Sketchup. After you have done a low poly model of your building, you have to do a texture map it should be 256x256 pixel. If you don't know how to do this, I wrote a tutorial how to do it. I think it's one or two pages back.

If you have problems with the texturing, I can do it for you if I have time.

To see how such buildings look like, look at the files topic and download the models from there.

I hope this helps you, if you have any questions, feel free to post them here.

Joey

PS: If you need a proper texture I can post some pictures from my holidays in Venice here.

It got to quiet here.

We haven't received any model except from mine for one week.

We need your help, without the help of anybody else this project will die.
So many times members ask for new environments - here you have the chance to model one of these for the game.

So I really hope we can go on with this since we had a great start.

Thanks, TFM

You are very good at doing bridges, so why not do the Rialto Bridge

I think I will do a list with all things we have to do and we have done on it.

I will look into it ;)

But a list sounds like a good idea

Here is the list

Venice project oversight list:

*Main model (all the small islands, without buildings, bridges etc.)
*St Mark’s Campanile
*St Mark’s Basilica
*Rialto Bridge
*San Giorgio Maggiore (Whole Island)
*Cruise terminal
*Port buildings (depots, ferry terminal)
*Doge's Palace
*Bridge of Sighs
*Piazza San Marco
*Venetian Arsenal
*Repeatable buildings (done 3 / to do approx. 20-40)
*Repeatable bridges (done 0 / to do approx. 20)
*Other bridges (done 1 / to do ?)
*Trees
*Vaporetto stop
*Small marinas
*Other bell towers

green = done
blue = work in progress
red = to do

So if you want to model something for the environment, pick up one of the red things. If you want to do one of the blue ones, please ask before you start working then we don't get on model two times

Please tell me, if I forgot anything important.

Yes you can do it on Sketchup but please upload it as Collada (.dae)

You can just start with a repeatable building (256x256 pixel texture, less than 300 polys).

We've got one bridge done ;)

Sorry, I knew I forgot something. But your bridge can only be used once since it has too many polys to be repeated.  ;)
