Does anyone have information on the Yamaha AR230 High Output

Specifically the outputs on the starboard side above the water line before the stern deck.

We noticed at idle neither of the 4 ports are squirting water, at 10knts+ both more stern ward are squirting. And at 30knts+ all are squirting.

The stern-most is always much hotter, around 140 degrees, the forward-most is usually about 80 degrees. And even if we have just the starboard engine at full power and the port engine off all 4 still squirt at the same pressure, so there isn't 2 per engine. Just want to know what they are for and how they work.

maybe they're clogged? otherwise i don't know, i'm not familiar with jet drives.

They have something to do with the exhaust since that boat has water jacketed exhaust. As you can see the stern most pilots are leading from the hotter end of the exhaust so your water temperature here is higher and both stern tubes lead off of both sides of the engine so that is why they aren't acting as if there are two per side. I would imagine that the amount of water fed into the exhaust is relative to the rpm/speed of the motor and the speed which you are traveling over water and I would also imagine that these are for bleeding off excess water pressure in the exhaust jacket. They also are a tell tale that everything is working with your exhaust system as Yamaha and all impeller cooled outboard engines spit water out of a small pilot in the rear to show the operator that water is flowing and as a result doing it's job of cooling your engine. This are a lot of really neat systems on this boat mechanically speaking.

Edit: Also from Yamaha: "Water flow through the engine is controlled by a thermostat and pressure system and is maintained by a pressure control valve."

I don't know much about jet propeled boats my self.  I own a 135_hp stern drive, and I'm more of Steam man my self.

I can tell you about the heat at the stern port though.  The way air ciculates in a jet sealed compartment it will always push the hottest air to the lowest and most astern points and stays there.  That pretty much all I can offer.

The exhaust itself come out above the jets.

The holes are probably only 1/8 inch in diameter.

And they are not for the bilge pump.

Edit: Thanks a ton ADDUBYA, sent it to my uncle. We were concerned since we found it squirting after our port engine over heated with seaweed.

LOL! Ours only smells at about 1/4 power. Once you get going it is fine, and under that it is at idle. 1/8 down is idle but with the jet cover open so water is moving (used for docking)

When I'm pulling up to the dock a actually wait on the water until they either leave or shut down they smell so bad.

Well we have our own lift at the end of the dock that is 10ft from the house, the only other person that ever comes is denis on his jetski, witch is why we have cleats. And trust me, that sound suppression foam helps a TON! When we were running it with the rear seat open (engine compartment) it was louder then a plane! I still like having people sit at the bow and then splash um.

when i take my chapperal out in the saltwater i have to flush my engine when i get back and i open the engine compartment and its crazy loud.  I dont know if any body else flushes there engine but if you do you kinda get the picture.

I flush my engine and I have a question,  Is it supposed to take about a minute for the water to get all the way from the inlet to the outlet once you start the engine.

they say that but i flush it for about 10 mins so make sure i also run the bilge while im doing this
