So this ship yard.. it's not REALLY releasing new vessels, only ones that have already been made and sold in another pack... it shouldn't take 1 month for them to upload a ship, they don't have to make it as they already made it!

Why are is VSTEP cheap?... it's why I don't buy 2008 :P

Hi Captain Kool, you are right, the last and the upcoming vessels are not really newbuilds. But it's not so easy to make new ship's with all details, dynamics, damage model etc. in such a short time. Therefor I hope, they are using the time to make pretty new ones whlie they are gonna sell the wellknown. Further I guess, that they are testing the success of single add-ons in general, before the launch of new and more expensive (according to the development costs) ships. Hopefully  ;)

Sounds pretty reasonable explanation to me mate.. should wait and see :] Would love to see new environments in more parts of the world!! So 09 is expected to be release in January?

They say the 1st quarter of SS2009, but i think it's likely to be longer than that.

I don't want Vstep to come out with Ship Simulator 2009 so soonly. I just got New horizons and i want a chance to use my game for a while instead of wasting $90 that it cost me for both of them. Plus the Shipyard's Furie!

Maritiem;
Doubt this is the reason as the Jumbo game was finished (more or less) before the summer period and also before the shipyard was announced. So Vstep could have announced the Shipyard later in order to have more ships available, I think the main reason is the holiday season.

I do know now that a lot of time is needed to convert ships to the VStep system. Altough we had our ship in autocad and 3dmax already it was still necessary to do a 'redesign' in order to make it sail smoothly. Building a completly new ship from scratch is a tremendous effort.
Also lot of different people are needed for the various aspects like wire-model, textures, ships behaviour etc.
