Spam Emails?

Hiya

Recently I've recieved 3 emails with attachments. the attachment on the emails are a ZIP, inside of the ZIP Folder is a EXE file. (Application file).

I'm presuming this is someone who is wanting me to run it so they could get info off my PC? Or even hack it!

Here are the emails in question;

Unfortunately we were not able to deliver postal package you sent on July the 25 in timebecause the recipient’s address is not correct.Please print out the invoice copy attached and collect the package at our office. Your UPS

There was another one from some bank, but I reported it to Micorsoft in Windows Live Mail and now its disapeared from my mailbox.

What should I do? Is anyone else getting these emails?

Spam e-mails are a pain, the general rule is, if you don't recognise the sender or name on the e-mail, don't even open it, you might have some settings on your mail box to block senders? take a look around your email settings and if you can block senders, type in the spam email address(s) and you shouldn't have any more problems. If you do, it will be from a different sender, again, repeat the process.

Newer click on files you get in mail even photos. gif. pics attachments all files and stuff like that are 100 % sure virus, delete that email  and scan your computer

You're saying that all attachments like pictures are viruses? Even if they're from people you know?

Anyway, I'm always vigilant when it comes to viruses e.t.c. Some people from my old school somehow hacked my pc and put trojons onto it... I also have ICT lessons at my secondary school about emails and to be vigilant with attachments...

I've scanned my PC, and nothing.... I only opened the ZIP Folders and once I saw the EXE I removed all my temp internet files to remove the ZIP...

I think I'm being targeted at, but not sure.... I'll see if I get more of these emails....

 Now i don't mean that, from unknown peoples, sorry forgot to say that, but be safety first, i mail back and ask if i got a mail from even peoples i know to be sure, but if you have asked a person to send you a mail with a attachments of couse you trust it, sorry if i was not so clear

I would suggest you call UPS and ask if they even send E-Mails like that.

This sort of thing is happening all the time, people purporting to be Banks/UPS/Pay Pal and the like are always trying to phish for your information.

If your email filter does not put emails like this into your junk folder then delete them. Do not reply to them and never ever open them.

I've been getting e-mails recently from strange places like Panama and such..
Don't open them, just add them to your blocking list..
To do this, click on "message" at the top of your screen, choose the option "block sender"
This will remove the message, and block future messages from that sender..

BizTimes Daily Notice.

As a public service, BizTimes Daily is warning readers not to open any e-mails with the subject line of "UPS Packet," because such e-mails are bogus and include attachments that are infected with a computer virus.
The e-mail leads the recipient to believe that a United Parcel Service package could not be delivered because of an incorrect address.

Once opened, the attachment unleashes a virus that opens a "door" on the computer and proceeds to download other viruses.

Anybody who receives such an e-mail should delete it immediately and then empty the computer's trash bin.

UPS has issued a warning about the computer virus. The warning states:

Attention: Virus Warning
Service Update 
We have become aware there is a fraudulent e-mail being sent that says it is coming from UPS and leads the reader to believe that a UPS shipment could not be delivered. The reader is advised to open an attachment reportedly containing a waybill for the shipment to be picked up.
This e-mail attachment contains a virus. We recommend that you do not open the attachment, but delete the e-mail immediately.
UPS may send official notification messages on occasion, but they rarely include attachments. If you receive a notification message that includes an attachment and are in doubt about its authenticity, please contact customerservice@ups.com.
Please note that UPS takes its customer relationships very seriously, but cannot take responsibility for the unauthorized actions of third parties.

There is another way to see it is spam, see all the spelling and error mistakes.

We receive exactly the same ones claiming to be from UPS, Barclays Bank, HSBC, Microsoft and a hundred others. They're fake, of course. Even though we send parcels by UPS, they don't email us like that.

We get over 8,000 spam, viruses and junk-ridden emails per day here. Because I had one of the very first web sites and because I have had the same email address ever since there were email addresses (before the Internet, back in the days of Janet) my name and email address is in the collection used by every spammer, every nerk and jerk in the world.

The benefit is that if I get the same emails on our main servers and also on one that is called "honeypot", then we know it's junk. The sender's details get automatically added to a list with a very rude title, and that is fed to all of the other spam catching systems around the world within moments.
