"Bulk" and "VacuumTower"
« on: August 04, 2008, 03:42:53 »

I know that there is almost another topic on this subject already but it kind of turned into a nonsence topic about the Men In Black. ;D

Ever since the last update there have been two new connection tabs in the connection menu.  These tabs are labeled "Bulk" and "VacuumTower" but with no reference data anywhere in manuals or online.

A. What ships or objects do these work with?

B. What do they do once activeated?

C. What precicly IS a "Vacuum Tower" Besides a really big Dyson Vacuum Cleaner. ;D

Thanks,

Hi M’lord
As answered in the other topic, they are for a larger version of AR, working name “Jumbo”. If VSTEP wanted to announce it, they would have.
The waypoints are in the ME so the developers and beta testers can operate it.
It might make its maiden voyage in Ship Simulator 2009.
B. Nothing that you would see. Obviously they are for loading and unloading that ship.
C. A vacuum tower sucks stuff up. As this is a ship simulator, one might guess that it sucks suckable stuff out of a ship.
Or, it could be a refinery reactor carried as cargo. Place your bets.

My teeth just fell out, doing that.

Marty, have you seen any missions that have used the "fire" trigger?

I thought I had, but I'm blowed if I can find it again. Perhaps I dreamt it or was delusional after the vacuum tower had got to me.

Hi Terry,
If you mean the Fire connection, no. I think it’s for a future addition of active FiFi capability. Some vessels—Sherpa, for instance—have “fire” attachment points. Like the other elements discussed here, it is in the ME for developer—and maybe beta tester—use. Some day we may see ships with working monitors, but probably not soon.
Or perhaps VSTEP will just add the capability to burn ships to the waterline in case we get tired of sinking them.
The good news is that another real company, Jumbo Offshore, is willing to let one of their ships be subjected to the indignities of our “The only good ship is a sinking ship” coterie.
It’s possible, of course, that the ship might never become an add-on, but is being developed as a demo and marketing tool for Jumbo Offshore, who would probably treat her more kindly.
Regards,
Marty

That’s pretty disturbing, Terry. I hope your Nanny doesn’t let you play with matches.
