FREE ROAMING: MORE PLAYER SHIPS?
« on: July 29, 2008, 15:25:40 »

Hello, I'm new to Ship Sim 2008 and I've a question concerning the player ships.
Once in a mission I had two player ships. This was real fun because I could drive them both and switch between them...  ;D

But to cut a long story short:

How is it possible to get two or more player ships in "FREE ROAMING" or something like that...
Or do I have to create an own mission to fix that?  ???

Thanks,

Jul

Hi There,

Welcome to the forum!

To answer your question, no, you can't have more than one ship in free roam. But, you can create your own mission and just use it for your own enjoyment.

Jack.

Thanks a lot for the fast answer  :D

So I've to create my own mission with mission editor, right?

Yes, but put no waypoints in it, just ships  ;)

Hi Jul92,
As Jack said, you are limited to the one vessel in free-roam. One exception is Hercules Ajax, which comes with a barge attached—which makes sense. If you don’t want the barge, you can simply disconnect it.

Jack is also correct about using the Mission editor to create your own free-roam environment with whatever you want in it. Alternatively, if you don’t want to create your own, you can select a mission that has the environment and ship that you want, and then ignore the waypoints and do your own thing.

Mission creation is not difficult, and a free-roam can be created in just a few minutes. There is a tutorial in PDF form that you can download.
One thing I should caution you on: When you save the free-roam, be careful that you do not hit the Upload button. Non-missions are never accepted by the CMMs, and in fact waste their time and irritate them.
Have fun,
Marty

To which new feature do you refer, oh thoughtful one?

There have been so many of them recently.

Sorry to confuse you, oh Moderating one. I meant the multiple ships in free roam.
                                                               Sorry Terry,
                                                                            Jake :D

P.S. Terry, would you happen to know why People without license keys can't access the Tech support and feature request sections? I'm sure there is probably a good reason behind that one, but I'm just curious.

I'm not Terry, but I hope you don't mind.

Everyone that buys SS008, has a valid license key. Those (more) important boards of the forum are only open to actual customers. The people that play an illegally downloaded version of the game, have basically stolen the game from VSTEP. And thieves are not going to get any help with their game (Technical Support) and will not be offered any chance to take part in the further development of this game (Requests and Suggestions) and so on.

Why do you ask? Do you not have a legal version and a valid license key to register??  ::)  ;D

Regards,
Fred

We don't help tiffs and other pirates to get a beater pirate copy of the game and if it so in you case as i don't hope delete the game and go and bay you a legal copy of it. ad you license key in your profile and you get axes to everything, and you will get all the help you need ;D

Whoa gentlemen!
Let's take several deep breaths and calm down please :). I don't yet own ShipSim because I don't yet posses a comp that can run SS. I have a Black MacBook (yes I use a Mac, read this 1st http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,9134.msg105541.html#msg105541 (http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,9134.msg105541.html#msg105541)) and it can't run SS due to the graphics card. I would rather punch myself several times than buy anything illegal (ask my family). I was just curious about that rule.
                                                                                       Sorry for the confusion,
                                                                                                               Jake

Hi Jake.

Don't worry. This is a very friendly community (we have our squabbles like all families of course), but the Forum members get very tetchy with people who use pirated copies.

Neither Fred nor Tore (Captain Bluebeard) were accusing you, just showing their strength of feeling about it (they are the two nicest people you could meet, providing I wasn't around). I am the chief joker, although I do also have a very stern side. (That's a boating joke)

Hi Terry,
By “very” do you mean it has a beam similar to that of Vermaas? :)

No it was a spelling mistake. I meant "ferry friendly", as in Red Eagle...  ;D

And of course, I should have said that Fred and Tore are some of the three nicest people and included you.

OOPS, I should have included Carl in that list.

OOPS, and Angus.

And Luc.

And Denis.

And Aad.

And Kevin McG.

And Mike.

And Dave.

And PJ.

And Nathan.

And.. oh, everyone here.

Now that IS truly amazing! I created that icon many, many years ago for a client. It got copied everywhere, and now it comes back to mock me after 20 years!

And how come Fred gets mentioned twice? Once in my list and once in yours. It's only because he has that unicycle, I know.  ???

PS, as you may notice, I am the ONLY sane one in this entire Forum. (he said, dressed in his organge tutu, wearing wellington boots and holding a plastic haddock between his teeth, whilst spreading marmite on a raincoat)

Well didn't you hear of my cloning experiments?  There's actually 6 to 8 of my clones floating around here, to help me out with all these lunatics around me. I'm never quite sure myself how many at a time.. come to think of it, I am not even ever quite sure if I actually AM myself, I could be one of them, though they are me, just not myself as I could be, if you catch my drift... if it indeed is MY drift, not one of their's...

Err... yeah..  Béééhh!
