Yes, I would like to see a paddle steamer. One of the American types to sail out of San Francisco or NY,perhaps. What about a Fire Boat scenario?

Would love to see the Waverley, was on this ship. Some info--

Waverley

Flagship of our fleet is the famous WAVERLEY - the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world. It is thought that this famous ship is probably the most photographed ship in the world!

Built on the Clyde in 1947 - to replace the original Waverley that sunk off Dunkirk in 1940, the Waverley was originally built to sail only between Craigendorran & Arrochar in West Scotland. It is amazing to think that she now sails right round Britain offering regular trips on the Clyde, the Thames, South Coast of England and the Bristol Channel with other calls at various ports & piers throughout the UK.

pieterurk,

Think we already have this vessel in SS2006 Add-On (I think it's called MV Agile in the game) but the cranes are non-operative. Someone on this forum mentioned that you can have the ships from SS 2006 Add-On put in SS2008 for free. I'm not sure if this is true.

Nice pics by the way!  ;D

If you have bought the SS06 Add-on you can upgrade it to SS08 standards for free :)

Hi Paul! :)

This is a bit off-topic, but you can find the answer to your question here:
http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,796.0.html

The SS08 version of the add-on isn't ready yet, but when it is, you can get it for free if you hold a SS06 add-on licence.

this might have already been discussed , what about inland waterway vessels? such as narrow boats or inland pleasure craft? i am a comercial skipper and command a 100ft inland passenger vessel on the upper thames. If you think driving a container ship into rotterdam is hard , try navigating a smaller vessel on the thames with 30 row boats and rowers and pleasure craft around who do not know either sound signals or the rules of navigation on the river, all that and your also in a non tidal waters but do have varying currents and wind to deal with.

I know, but in my view it's not boring;  :) trying to manouver this giant and to tow it, could be tricky (which means fun, for me).

Yeah, I know. I wonder if engines have simply been unmounted or if they're still there and that thing can still sail.
Ciao,

  Corrado

P.S. Another fine addition to SS ships could be the Glomar Explorer.

corrado , the engines will still be mounted and probally used to a limited point for power onboard. these large vessels are constructed around the engines due to there size . the ship is probally used as a loading unloading platform due to the life expectancy or a major fault in the engines , but with the hull and equipment still usable , this is common practice with older vessels before they eventually get scrapped at the end of there useful life.
