i think this is getting i little confusing the ms arcadia was to be tranferd  to cunard in 2003 and becaome the qv and so cunard added bit to her the funnel and the masts but at her lurnch she was tranferd to  P&O Cruises so she was part of cunard but never sailed as she was still being bult but that is why she looks lick a cunard ship

I think "pauljanaway1" has the right idea.

Carnival Corporation & PLC gave the go-ahead for the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy to build a new cruise ship in the year 2000, which was destined to be for Holland America Line (HAL) as their fifth Vista-class ship.  However whilst still under construction the whole company decided that she would in fact become Cunard's new ship, the "Queen Victoria".  However not long before the ship was due to be launched in 2004, the company decided to move the ship to P&O Cruises.  Hence the reason why she is similar to some HAL vessels and Cunard's latest "Queen Victoria".

I think the funnel is slightly differrnt on the Arcadia. (QV look alike)

But I also think the stern is slightly more "gradiated" than QV. But never had a good look.

Hi everybody!
Yes, the Queen Victoria is the second ship with this name, but the first never sailed under Cunard's flag. This ship is called "Arcadia" today. The biggest difference between the two ships is the size:
The "Arcadia" has 84.000 tonns, the "Queen Victoria" is with 90.000 tonns a bit bigger.
One of the biggest differences you can see is the lift at the side of Arcadia. It's the black thing behind the first lifeboats. The QV has more rooms instead of this panorama-lift.

Cunard decided to order a new ship, after the Queen Mary had become so famous. That is why they sold the ship to P & O. They are both member of the Carnival-Group, so it wasn't a big problem.

Unfortunately the QV isnt' a real Transatlantik-Cruiser  ::)

She isn't the nicest ship in the world, but there are a lot worse!
I find it a pity that she hasn't her own design, it was taken over by Fincantieri-Style.

Yes, the last pic is the "Noordam".
I took this pic to show how similar the ships from fincantieri can look. The biggest difference is the funnel. It's made after the wishes of the shipping company. The rest is almost the same.
The "Noordam" is the same type like the "Arcadia".
