Never mind the noise (and you can't get a steam ship without it) but where's the steam and smoke?

The Furie is an oil burning steamer and.. well.. let me quote Traddles, he said it better than I can..

oil burning steamers only issue smoke if the burners are not carefully regulated. It used to be a point of pride on the old steamships to be able to maintain a lack of smoke for a whole watch of four hours. The only time really black smoke was emitted was when the engineers "Blew the tubes." That is when the boiler tubes were cleaned by blowing through.

She now runs on oil, so no smoke comes out in real life either

I'm not sure what you mean by the telegraph noise ??? Do you mean the ringing sound when the telegraph is used? Or perhaps you mean the clanking sound of the steering chains as you alter course. Both of these sounds are realistic on an old ship like "Furie". Some players have found that the chains are still rattling after they have stopped using the wheel. I found that a quick double click on the wheel will stop that.

He discussed this with me in Multiplayer - He wants to turn the ringing sound when the telegraph is used off but not the horn and engine noise - his family are going mad with the noise  ;D

So is he constantly changing speeds for telegraph to be making enough noise to be a nuisance?  The engine room guy must be going nuts!

The short answer is no.
He can see for himself by simply trying the sound control sliders.
For his family’s sake, he can use earphones.

Use a Pioneer or something instead, then you won't have the problem!!

Paul,
Some Engineers acknowledge immediately so the old man won’t think they are asleep. Then they get out the manual and look up how to reverse a steam engine. ;D

Speaking of engine noise, in the future will there be able to be a made a switch so you could turn on off that aw sum iritaing noise and the silent like other noise off or on.And when turning it off/on should sound like a smooth echo like finish and start each time taking like 10 or so seconds to power up or power down.

Also could we have white steam blowing evrything the whistle is blowing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPEzNUbeS68&feature=related

I rekon this modification will solve all the noise related problems
