Hi Guys,

Just to say that I've been reading through this thread and feel that the negative comments about VS are unnecessary and derogatory.  I have been part of the VS community for years (as well as this SS community), and VS has been programmed up by just one man from nothing over the last 9 years - with a community all along the way.  Many of the VS models you see were made years ago and so, of course, cannot be compared to today's models.  There are many new excellent VS models available, although I admit that many others are not made to a desperately high standard.

ShipSim does have much better graphics and more detailed ships, but this is because a huge company is creating it!  Likewise I would also admit that the VS community relations aren't always as strong as they could be, but you yourselves have to come to a reasoned judgement on that.

To conclude, please don't moan about VS on these forums...it's outright rude and just plain boring.  I have come here to read/discuss about SS & related topics - not to read about how much everyone hates VS.  I will not be making reference to VS after this post.

I do partly agree with you James, although VSTEP is not a huge company..   

There will always be moaning on "rival forums" about the competition, I think.
SS isn't really a favorite subject on the VS forum either, as far as I have experienced.
You cannot deny that there's a similar thing going on over there aswell.
I've seen the same things on other related, "rival forums". I guess it's the way of things. 

But you do have a point about the VS models. A lot are out of date. A lot are just not that good, but there are some great vessels out there made by very talented people aswell.
VS just didn't do it for me though, but we can't all be into the same things of course. 

I'm pretty much put off VS most by my first and only VS forum (community) experience and I chose not to come back there again. I won't go into details but it was related to SS and was plain childish and fanboy-like, so to speak..
So personally, I don't really like to see too many VS related topics here, or VS models displayed in the NVDG forum, as they simply do not belong here... But that's just my opinion of course. I personally wouldn't post any SS material or discussions on the VS boards, so I often wonder why we have so much VS content on the SS forum.

I think we have a really good community here, and I also take other fora into account that I am and was a part of.

I'm also sorry to see one of the members go of course. So Paddy, take care of yourself! Too bad you're leaving. I hope you are going to find what you are looking for on the VS forums. Don't be a stranger!

If you have 1000 people in front of you and they all have played both Virtual Sailor and Ship Simulator and you ask them the question:

What's the best one of these two games?

..then you will not get one answer. You will get dozens of answers and reasons for their opinions because there is people on this forum (like me and James) who also play both games (SS and VS) and find favorite sides in both games. I cud always find pluses and minuses for both VS and SS if I want to...but I don't get the idea to post these in this forum when there is a list of minuses of VS that actually cud be posted at the VS forum instead.

If you request a extremely detailed Titanic model for VS you simply post it at the VS forum. If you think that the Titanic made for VS isn't good enough- fine! But there are other people that may find that Titanic model great! So you should be a little careful to go far in your judgment when reviewing a game, car, train, airplane, shoes...whatever. If you did post the stuff you wrote about Titanic at the VS forum I can promise you that you would be dead meat over there pretty soon. Yeah you would feel it like a war because I know...because I have done the same stupid thing myself when I reviewed someones add-on over there...

The other thing you can do is to keep if for yourself and not post it at all. Then at least you don't get overdriven by repliers with strong opinions and that at the end attacks the poster instead of the case.

To the last - if someone likes VS don't attack them. If someone like SS don't attack them. That's what's called respect. Then at least you can stay out of real trouble.

yes allthough i do beleave in telling like it is. i'm not one for letting someone down genterly over in vs i would probley be dead for say a lot of there ships are undetailed and badly made but that is just me

Acoording to the first link, there is an "improved" Titanic VS model...

When in reality, the only improvement I can see is that "Titanic" is written in yellow.

I'll tell you what, show me a VS Titanic model that is good by my standards, THEN I'll consider getting it

It just feels like I'd be betraying VSTEP if I bought it, as I usually don't see 2 companies competing in the same industry as being on good terms with eachother.
