Hi on the virusscan it says that the computer have been infected with, I think it was 37 trojan something. Is this dangerous? Is it easy to remove?
It was Norton Antivirus which found it, but because it's a limited version, I can't remove it. But I have McAfee, searching for it now so hopefully it will find it and then delete the trojans.

if you cant. if you have vista you can restet the pc to yesterday

i did it once and it restarts your pc back to the day before only take 10 mins if that (i let you bro use my laptop for 10 mins and he get 4 different viruses)

firewalls are only good if you dont let the infection in like my bro did downloading stupid songs and vids off the internet now i wont even let him nere my laptop

Trojans are just like they sound. The name was originally taken from the story about the Trojan Horse

They can allow 'backdoors' into your PC, and can allow things like logging your keyboard typing (keyloggers). They can be removed of course (for the most part), but if you have problems removing them, try to use your virus checkers 'Quarantine' option. This will prevent them from spreading to other parts of your hard drive (or flash drives)

It would also be a good idea to change your passwords, especially if you do Online Banking

not on vista on the control panel there is a big button saying back up computor and it takes about 10 mins to back it up to the day before and it keeps all documnets safe and dose not lose anything

The program who claims to have found 44trojas viruses, is name Antivirus 2008, but I can't delete them because of limited version. But when I searched with McAfee, I couldn't find any sign of any virus, is it possible that the whole thing is a scam? Can we trust Antivirus 2008?

i would say dont trust it is my mum had one 2 years a go a message one day saying we had a trijan did 3 pc scans found nuffink when you click to find out more it took you to a internet sites asking for money

Hi Minime.

DO NOT BUY Antivirus 2008!

My sister-in-law foolishy fell for that trick a couple of years ago (it had a slightly different name then, of course). You will pay a sum of money to download a program that does remove the trojan. But it then installs dozens of others instead. An absolutely criminal trick!

System restore may not get rid of it. Many trojans download "Rootkits" which are not removed. They may also download viruses and other nasties which are also not touched by a system restore.

To remove the trjoan, I'd suggest looking at these first:

-this will not get rid of viruses. this is windows restore this will reset setting witch u may have changed over that past 3-4 weeks it will NOT DELETE FILES WITCH MEANS IT WILL NOT DELETE VIRUSES.

probably the best things to use are FREE you just got to look around

try Bullard 10day free trial it looks in all folders and files you have on your computer (I would recommend it) also be patent with it, it may take over night to complete. http://www.bullguard.com/try.aspx

Next make shoor you have and are running a firewall you pc all ready has one built in for u to use make shoor itâ€™s turned on

as terry said spy bot will be a really good friend to you make shoor you download him agen he is free.

personally I wouldnâ€™t trust nor tan at all iv had big problems with it so donâ€™t be leave everything you see aspesaly as its only tempary. Norton may be telling you that you have lots of Trojans so that you buy it to fix it were as you may only have one or 2.

also do you get popups or do you have a popup blocker ?

its posabal to that your gran or granpa have seen a popup for sumthing like a holaday or your we bro for a game trogans can get in if you click on them.

your right because i watch what i don online and so hope never to come across a infection or viruse. a syteam restall worked for me as it got rid of the messages saying that i have to pay to get rid of the viruse turns out where was not one

System Restore is ok for some things, but there's something you need to be aware of. Restoring your system doesn't alter the contents of My Documents, so if anything in that folder is causing a problem, it will remain, even after a System Restore

Antivirus programs don't always catch trojans and other spyware. That's why I gave you the links to those free programs (see above). They are ones that I use and they work well.

I do know the malware involved, and as DJM (And myself) have said, a system restore won't fix this. It is a nasty piece of work and combines rootkit with several different versions of itself running at the same time, so if you kill one, another of its brothers will simply restart it.

I don't think system restore is the right option, i think you may have to bring it into a local computer shop and they will restart the system, some info will be lost, some kept. But then the viruses should be gone, also i'd advise you to get "bullgaurd" antivius, its fantastic and its like one big security package, it has everything. I'd also advise you to get macafee site adviser, (there is also a free version which is good, which i have

) it will let you know of a site that has a good reputation, and if it contains viruses etc.

jack dont be hasty now i dont think the system needs to be wiped as i said up the page using the steps from terry djm and my self the trogans should be wiped we have provided plenty of links with lots of information about viros protection and scans so on id only go for a wipe if the trogans were starting to do a lot of problems.

That is the problem, and also, you don't know what details the virus could be taking. In my opinion its best to get them out of the system (although i'm not an expert on computers, that is my logical opinion.)

Well maybe The shop could just fix the computer, although it has quaranty. Besides I think they have cheated us, because on the paper it says that the hardisk is 320Gb, but it's only about 280Gb in the computer, so they have to do something.
