New member - all at sea!
« on: June 15, 2008, 13:34:47 »

Hello. I am a new member, and I am all at sea (lol) in understanding this web site, and finding my way around. This is my very first attempt at posting some of my thoughts. I can’t figure out the right places wherein to voice my comments / suggestions for future development of Ship simulator. I have thoroughly enjoyed the ‘game’ so far. However, I do not regard it so much as a game, but as a serious vehicle of training and practice. I live in the Merseyside area of England, and I am very disappointed that the river Mersey and the port of Liverpool doesn’t feature here. Being one of the most famous ports in the world it has SO much to offer, with its landing stages, famous Liverpool water front, the river approaches from the Irish sea, the river itself with its 7 knott tides, entrances to dock systems and the Manchester ship canal – to say nothing of the variety of vessels, from ferries to tugs and dredgers, freighters, cruise liners, small pleasure craft and sailing clubs, along with periodic tall ship extravaganzas! Loads of challenges could be created here!
I also have a few grumbles to make on the present structure of the ‘game’ and annoying traits, and suggestions to make for improvements.
WHERE, however, do I make my comments and suggestions? The suggested forum categories are very confusing and unclear to me.

Hi Carl - and Agent Austin.
Thanks for the welcome, and the help links. Still floundering with the site structure, though. lol.  ::) How and where do I open up a topic, for instance, about navigation lights on other ships at night? Also to grumble about ships suddenly appearing only two or three miles away when one is on a mission, and why do the 'other' vessels not make adjustments to their course when you know you have right of way at sea? These are just SOME of the topics I would like to bring up.

Hiya Ronnie :)

One of the links I posted, was for the Search function ;)

All/most of the things you mention there, have been brought up before, so you should be able to find them by running a quick search.  Once you've found a relevant topic, click it to view it.  If you have a comment to make in the topic, click Reply, and post your response ;)

Be aware though, if the topic is really old, we class them as 'dead' topics.  You will get a message if the topic is too old.  You can still post in these topics, but these posts are usually removed :)

Regards.

Thanks. By the way, is it preferable to log oneself out before one switches off?

It is a good idea to logout, yes.  I always say that to everyone who asks me (family, friends etc.).  Get into the habit of doing it, and you can't ever make the mistake of leaving yourself logged-in if you use a public computer, or someone else's computer ;)
