Just Ordered SS2008, But Questions Remain
« on: July 13, 2007, 15:28:13 »

Well, I've answered my own question.  Apparently we in the U.S. don't have to wait till September to order the CD Box version because I just ordered it online for 39.99 Euros, plus 3.50 Euros for shipping.  The confirmation email indicated it will be shipped on July 25th, which is OK by me.  Now I'll have to wait and see how 43.49 Euros translates into dollars.  (I know the conversion rate is not currently favorable for U.S. customers.)

Several more questions still remain:
(1)  Must we delete SS2006 in order to play SS2008, or can we play them both from the same (or different) hard drives?
(2)  I have an NVIDIA GeForce 5200 128MB video card, and the minimum required is a 5900.   Can I still play SS2008 with reasonable graphics if I adjust the graphics settings to minimum?
(3) There was an announcement that Ship Simulator had "gone gold".  Does this apply to SS2006, or SS2008?  And how many sold copies does going gold mean?

You can have both SS06 and SS08 on your system because both of them run off a different location.

It is advised to have a 256mb graphics card, like mine it runs very smooth, so im quessing it should be ok with a 128mb.

And it was altogether "Ship Simulator" selling the copys has gone gold, not just SS06

'Gone gold' means that the production has started a.k.a. that the final launch version is finished. It has nothing to do with copies sold.

ss2006 and ss2008 can run perfectly next to eachother. They are two completely seperate games.

You may not be able to play the game at all unfortunately, the 5200 is quite different in terms of hardware when compared to the 5900.

Unfortunately I cannot say with any certainty that the game will run, it may....then again it may not.  If it does run, it will be on lowest settings possible :(

If possible, upgrade your graphics card to at least a GeForce 6 Series :)

Regards.
