I don't mean to be a killjoy, but I have noticed a couple of animated signatures that are quite
sizeable - one at over 2Mb and one over 3Mb. On one page that I have jusst visited there
were 9 posts between these two posters, so on average of 2.5Mb thats 22.5Mb to download
as the page loads. Thats without any other pics. It's fine when I am at the office on Broadband,
but it's a real PITA at home on a dodgy wireless network.

Mine's in the reasonably big category I guess...  ;D

Seriously though, some people like to have such sigs. To be honest I have never had any complaints. But yeah, some of us have to make do with less ideal connections and for you/them it's a nuisance sometimes. Luckily it's not as bad compared to what I see on other fora though.

But if you wish, you can always turn off signatures.
Go to your profile, and under "look and layout preferences" check the "don't show users' signatures" box.

This way you can have faster loading times and you don't have to get frustrated by sigs like mine.  ;D

Fred

I simply have signatures turned off in my profile so I don't see members signatures.
Then you don't have to worry about the loading time for the page. ;)
