I WISH that was MSFS. Though there are some pretty real-looking MSFS screenshots around...

Sometimes it is genuinely hard to tell...

Remember the old MSFS- the sublogic stuff... I remember the first good sim to come out was A320 (Amiga)... SOLID graphics- no wireframes...

Who'd have thought 20 years later...

Anyway, sorry. O/T/

Nope, I never seen let alone played any MSFS besides 2004/9 and X.

Yeah, sorry, ontopic now.

Edit: Boeing 727 posts! ;D

BTW (just to keep this on topic) my desktop is a plain grey screen and just says 'Made by Hewlett Packard' at the bottom, with serial numbers etc

Very, very interesting! Show us! That's the point of this thread!

Edit: I can also be even more picky (731 is short for 737-100, and that goes on till 736, and there's 738 and 739.. then there's 741 to 744 + 747/748, 752/753/757, 762 to 764 + 767, 772/773 + 777.

I think you will ask what is short for 737-700. Well, that is 73G. G is the 7th letter in the alphabet. Seeing as I cannot have 73G posts, I left that out. :'(

I bet you don't have a clue of what I'm saying, but what I say is true.

That looks very nice indeed...How well does it run on your machine? (Just looking at your FPS there).

Hi Jack,
I find that SS5 runs very smoothly on my computer. The 14 FPS which shows in the picture does not have any effect on the smoothness of the motion of the yachts. I find that I can join in races with players from around the world and even (Very rarely) win one.   The multiplayer set up is very easy to use and one can set up a race with just one close friend which is not accessible to others. I race with my daughter in Leeds quite often, but she nearly always wins. :-[ You are able to set out your own sailing courses with marker buoys too. Attached is an example of racing with Volvo open 70's.
Note that I was behind and losing.
Angus.

I would consider getting it, for the fun of it! - But I would be useless, I know, I am clueless when it comes to sails

Also, with regards to FPS...I also find the same as yourself when it comes to gaming. Both Virtual Sailor and Ship Simulator run fairly well, but my FPS tells me that it shouldn't be running smoothly at all

For example...You may know of DVO Marine Design's SS France for Virtual Sailor, I run that currently on this system, with about 10-14 FPS...With a load in time of about 15-20 seconds...Strange that I can run it smoothly at points, but my FPS says otherwise.

It's quite possible that I just don't know what smooth gameplay is yet  - Since I've never been on anything more powerful than this, and this will soon need a wheelchair..

Thanks for your reply anyway! - I may have a look at it when I get my new computer..(eventually)...PC world decided to bump the price up by another 300 Quid before Christmas, so now I have to wait for a while longer.

Jack :)

Nope. I can sit all day and stare at the screen and recognise its artistic value.

It is actually artwork. There is a very detailed grey picture of a car boarding a grey ship on a very grey and overcast day.

Greyt stuff!

Can I make a suggestion chaps. and it is only a suggestion; I think perhaps steering clear of 11/9/01 is a good idea.

There is another topic to discuss it. Remember what happened last time? Some people didn't have the good grace to refrain from posting comments that upset others... It wasn't pleasant.
