Questions Re: Ship Simulator 2008
« on: April 28, 2007, 06:05:30 »

Questions re: Ship Sim 2008:

1.  Will the complexity and intensity of the wave motion be controllable by the player, or will it be randomly generated?

2.  If we can save missions, can we also save free-roaming sessions?

3.  If there will be day and night steaming, will there be city lights at night if we're within a harbour, such as New York?

4.  Is the bridge at the top of the Forum web page the Golden Gate Bridge, as depicted in Ship Sim 2008?

Hi there,
1. Yes you can control the waves in ss08.
2. Yes i think so.
3. No. I remember the producers saying that it will be hard for city lights. They will have ship lights though. I think city lights will be in another version.
4. Yes it is! San Fran Sisco is in the next version and that is a screenshot.

Cheers! 8)

It is not even completed yet. And am I right in thinking that VSTEP will be releasing a demo after the full version is out?

Greetings,
If you dont want to be dissepointed, keep than always in mind, that the unexpected can happen. This way it's more easyer to live, with a dessolusion.
If there's a delay of the release date, there's always a good reason,in the view of the developers.
Best is (like we've said before)to release a good game, with none or very little errors, than to release it quick, and have one problem afther the other.
A delay of this release,is not all the time somebody's fault,it can be even the systems.
However,it would be nice to have this game out in time.
Regards
Marc

More Ship Sim 2008 Questions:

1.  Can we generate a moderate wave condition in the harbours and around the Phi Phi Islands, or must those waters remain perpetually calm?

2.  In night mode, from what maximum distance will we be able to see other ships' lights?

3.  Have the new ships for Ship Sim 2008 been definitely assigned yet, and if so, can they be revealed?

Look in the previews and you will see the vessels of the next game.

Hi Maik,

guess VSTEP is still working on this feature, so there will be no screenshot available until now. But it should be an improved damage model with different stages to be visible, depending on the force.

Cheers

Well next question i'm on a roll here ;D

Is there anything known about the multiplayer, I have read that it will be a free update. But is it known to someone here how this will work. With how many people will we be playing in one harbor? And is it possible that there are people with towboats helping people in lets say te titanic ore the oil tanker manouver?

Ore am I talking about stuff way way way far in the future here?

Hello,

Actually the waves has to generate randomly.
Because the wave height is depending on the path of the wind, the wind force and the direction of the wind.

One example: if you have a channel say north-south and the wind ( galeforce ) is coming from the west you got realitive small waves but the ship is steering a few degree to the west to go straight on.
But is the wind coming from the north it's a whole different story !!
The same story on an island.

There for my opinion is that you only can set the wind.

Greets,
Coen

And if you want bigger ore stronger waves you can just put the windforce higher. In that way you stille have some control over the waves. Am I correct on that ??

No, you are talking about what happens, after launching the multiplayer mode later this year! One harbour, lots of players and everthing else you mentioned!
