anyone here have rail sim? if so. how is it? what site can i get add ons from?

Microsoft Train Sim for me.

I am a very active contributor (although you'll never know which is me!).

If you are a paid-up member you get unlimited downloads. Non-paying members have to share the restricted bandwidth.

But there is enough content on that site, all free, to keep you going for several lifetimes.

Yes i have rail sim its ok, but aurans traunz sim are bether and i mean all versions and i have ms trainsim 1 but i'm a betatester for v 2 and that vil be werry god i promisse you all

I do betatest on Auran Trainz Classics3 only thing i can tel you ther at that comes to be fantastic and wort to by , it not so long to the releas of trainz clasic 3 is out, bur it will be better an ms trainsim

Rail sim is about the same when you compare it to MS train sim.

Rail Sim Pros:
Better graphics
Dynamic weather
interactive cab controls
ability to control multiple trains
Passesngers actually move

Rail Sim Cons:
Sound is not quite as good as it could be
switching is extremely hard to do
no add-ons
difficult editor

I think that the new MSTS will be amazing because it is done by ACE studios who have 25 years of simulation Experience.

I've just noticed the dynamic braking doesn't work on the US locos. This is a big disappointment especially on the Cajon pass grades. I am thinking of going back to MSTS until it is fixed.

For me, the absolutely best thing about MSTS is that it is no longer MS. The fans have taken it over! Even the .exe and .dll files have been heavily modified for th epast few years to correct the bugs and to add new features. A gentle in the Czech Repulic leads this and releases updates quite often.

Anyone can create new trains, new scenery, new timetables, whole new environments if they want to.

As with all simulators, the level of difficullty puts most users off, but via the web site I indicated above, there are tens of thousands of new features available for free. I don't see that with any other train SIm (except Rail Simulator which now has a growing following on the same site).

I'll go check that out later, hopefully it'll let me run MSTS again, it doesnt seem to want to run on my PC

Its something to do with the launcher when it shows the "Profiling" box, it just hangs there, then eventually becomes unstable and crashes. Hopefully a replacement exe will get round it

Hmmm.

Not a subject for this forum but it indicates that you have a problem with your Windows installation. Make sure you've downloaded the update patch from Microsoft and then search for msts-bin for the user group updates.

a little on you drive win xp or vista, msts is no good on vista, if you don't know Microsoft hawe realist some updates for msts1 you can download them on ms trainsim site, its two updates + more trains

I've got MSTS working on Vista. Had no problems at all. No compatability problems, nothing. I just installed it and it ran first go. I have Vista Business. I was logged in using my top-level Administrator Account, of course.

It runs well her on my vista ultimate 64 bit, but when i shod shut it down then the hang with the black screen so i must crtl+alt+del to shut it down
But aurans trainz sim 2004. 2006 trains classic2 and Trainz driver no problems at all
and i beta tester trainz classic 3 no problems well bugs and so but that are youst that vi are tester for.
But i Wait to MStrainsim 2 comes out that will be something the testing is wherry promising. but the best windows for games are Windows XP pro i think, but after i shut down usercontrol it goes mutsh better and as Terry sad full Adm control it not so wherry bad
