it dawned on me yesterday while playing ss08 which is the original ship sim couold somone please tell me thanks and what does the professional have that makes it so special please tell me. but does it have a driving console or what.

If you look on the opening page of this site, you'll see Ship Simulator 2006, which was the previous version.

The Pro version interfaces to real-life devices such as charts etc. Again, details on the front page.

I guess that most home users won't have much use for the Pro version. But worth a look. You never know!
