With Vista you may want 4 Gb of RAM, I'm not sure that's in the above setup.. :)

Keep in mind that if you have 4Gb in Vista 32 bit it will only use about 3,3Gb of the ram(I have 4Gb in Vista 32 bit just because I want as much as possible :) )

Minimum spec for Vista is 2Gb. However, extra memory is always useful no matter what applications you're running. With prices being relatively cheap, now is a good time to buy it (and install it, to be really useful).

Personally, I like ripping open brand new PCs and stuffing them with more memory, extra disk controllers, bigger power supplies and many TB of hard drives.

But then, I am a geek.  ;D

I had a bit of cold feet when I first had to open up my computer, but it is a good way to understand a bit what goes on in there..I'm still a tourist though.. ;)

Tourism is always a good start, it can be fun learning all about your PC for the first time ;)

But I strongly reccommend that start with an old spare one! Don't use the trusty main PC, in case you need to download a driver or similar...  :o

Oh dear. I took you literally. Excuse me while I wipe the 3-in-1 from my PC.

Indeed ;)

Although I'm quite brave with tech stuff most of the time.  I crashed my first PC 20+ times in the first few weeks (full reinstall required each time), but I knew exactly what it was capable of after that ;D

I actually did that oil thing once, years ago. A girlfriend had a crackly volume-control on her transistor-radio, so I poured some oil in it..
It didn't help.. :D

Actually, 4B pencil works best. I used to open up the pot, then gently run a the 4B pencil round the track. Worked perfectly!

I still do that for the few things that use a carbon potentiometer. (Told you I'm a Geek!).
