lol no probs, i was scared for a moment because they wrote AGP 8x all over the page and on one part where it says, AGP 8x PCI-E or PCI: it said PCI-E.. But i asked them and they said it was a typo so i was relieved...

Well thanks anyway and i hope to see you all soon on multiplayer.

Cheers, Matt

Awww, one thing after another i found that it requires 400w from the power box and mine is 350w.
Something's telling me that i am not allowed to play SS08 with decent graphics..lol. Im going to comp fair tommorow and getting a New Computer Tower (BOX)  as mine is old and i will be getting 500w not 350w :P.

My computer did not have a good enough graphics card for Ship Simulator 2008. Although my PC is a Sony this means little as like many others it is assembled from components made by a wide range of manufacturers and is over 3 years old. Noone can say with authority what new graphics cards will or won't work with it. Sony said that I should not change the card as that would void any warranty. They have been very good with support but if the graphics are not good enough it gives problems with SS2008. In my case the sea just showed as a heaving grid and vital information was not visible for many missions.

My PC had an AGP Graphics card in a single AGP slot. It also has PCI slots but not the later PCI-E slots. The best value AGP graphics card I could find would haave cost me £90. A bit steep if it might be money down the drain. Then a couple of weeks ago Maplins offered in a sale

'ATI Radeon Saphire HD 2400 Pro 256mb' for £50.

I bought this and had my brother-in-law fit it and it works...so far..

For anyone thinking of buying SS2008 or upgrading from SS2006 to SS2008 I suggest borrowing a friends SS2008 to see if you can see the sea. If you can't then either stick with or buy  SS2006 or wait till you have upgraded your PC or bought a new one.  BrianG
