Hi chase,
The short answer is you can’t—not if you are talking about higher waves than 4 meters. This subject has been covered at length.
You do have a way to choose the wave height within the 4 meter maximum:
In Free Roam you can set the weather and time of day. There is a slider for setting the wave height. More important, if you looking for rough seas, is the wind, which determines how the waves run. Without wind you get only a swell; with proper wind you can get a sea that makes ship handling difficult.
If you build your own missions, you can control the sea and cause it to change during the mission.

Hi there you can try this link http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,982.0.html BUT REMEMBER YOU ACCEPTED TO A TERM IN THE AGGREMENT
Quote
Warning to users who try this: tempering with the game is not permitted and therefor at your own risk. Any support rights you had will be lost when tempering with the game.
That is a quote from wout and which will cause you losing your cd key permanently
and this topic has been brought up many times may i suggest using the search button/area next time

Hi all,

Well that's not all true, reaper.

Players who attempt this do not lose their cd key, they can still use it to install the game and so on. But they do lose their warranty and do not get technical support any more.

And making higher waves, as is described in this thread, can only be done with V1.0 of the game as this "loophole" has been fixed in the V1.1 patch.

I would not recommend anyone to try this, as it does nothing for the realisme in the game. The ships are not designed to react to higher waves than 4 meters accuratly and there might be other issues that can arise with your game. So try this only AT YOUR OWN risk.

Regards,
Fred

I can do it in V1.3? The File is just in my documents though. (I only tested it to see if it was the file)

You are? Well all I know is that VSTEP locked that loophole. So did you find another, or is that "old trick" still working for you?  (It is not working for others, cause people have made such remarks)

good to know though that you're on that special list too, for future reference.  ;D

Nah, thanks, it doesn't look good anyway when they are that high IMHO.  ;D

But it's nice that you brought it to our attention again, so it can be looked into and fixed...

So enjoy it while it's still possible and thanks!   :P

Hi Fred.

So, does that mean that YOU don't get technical support now, either? ;D  ;D  ;D

But of course, all moderators are so close to godliness that they would never need technical assistance, would they? Silly me for even asking the question, no matter how rhetorically.

But seriously folks, it's pretty pointless mucking around with Ship Sim configuration files. As Fred says, the ships just act stupidly. From the screen shots I've seen posted, the waves don't look realistic either.

You really do risk making it so that your copy of Ship Simulator won't work properly. At that stage, you're on your own. You can't post the technical files that would be needed to provide support to you, since by doing that you will reveal that you have corrupted your version of Ship Simulator. You're stuck at that point with a blank screen.

LEAVE IT ALONE!

Go and play in some of the more difficult Custom Missions before you mess up your copy of Ship Simulator.

Hey Terry,

I think you misunderstood.. I have never edited that file in my game..
I only know it looks bad from screenshots and youtube clips.

Agent removed one of his posts, that was between my two, so it's out of context now perhaps.

Agreed on the rest you say! 100%!

Fred

No, I understood perfectly. Just pulling your leg, Fred.  ;) You know how wicked my sense of humour is... (I'm good. But my sense of humour isn't).

I didn't get it then.. As I couldn't think of any reason I'd lose my tech support.  :P
