Welcome to the forum...

If you tipe 'ship sink' into the search bar at the top you will find your answer (as best as we all know).

If the moderators catch you asking duplicate questions, THEY will sink your boat ;)

It has been discussed quite a bit and I don't think there has ever been an answer from the developers, and from us lot, opinion is divided.

Have a look round the forum there are loads of topics to read (and if you suffer insomnia, read my posts)

Ive had the container ship in mission 5 capsize, then get hit by another ship- right itself (still listing) and then finally capsize after several seconds.

Dont know if this is deliberate or a bug. Was fun to watch though.

Hit a sail boat with a larger ship and look real Quick and it sill sink not just capsize.

Hmmm, Ship Sim, I noticeed the route marked by the wake of your boat, surely you did not purposefully run over an inocent sailor and his yacht...did you? :o :D

I've tried re-capsizing the freighter to make a screen shot and I can't repeat it. It definately happened and I'm not imagining it.

It happened just steering right onto the river in mission 5. Was hit by small boat, shunted into oncoming frieghter and capsized.

I get the impression that this was a deliberate coded part of the sim, but one that wasn't completed.

Anyone else managed this? Would be a good start for 2008 realism!

Let me explain once more:

Probably, if everything goes according to plan, boats will be able to sink in ss2008. A damage model is being developed, so if you hit anything, there will be a scratch on the right spot of the hull. Or a bump. Or a crack. Or a hole. And if the crack or hole is under the waterline, the ship will be filled up with water and yes, it will sink.

Does this answer your question?

I have one small question about sinking ships in 2008.....

Lets say for instance that I hit something with the Titanic, and it starts sinking. Will I be able to use walk around mode, and walk around the ship as it's sinking, or will one of these two things happen... A window comes up saying the ship has taken too much damage and show the ship simply sinking.... or.... I just won't be able to enable walk around mode, and will only be able to watch the ship sink from the outside view.
And also, regardless of what the answer is to the previous questions, when the ship has completely sank, will the game session automatically quit, bring up a window saying it's over, or will I have to manually end the session?

when a ship sinks, are you still able to walk on it then? because that would be awsome, ''the last moments on the ship that will be gone in a few minutes''  ;D
like in the pirates of the caribbean game, you have to watch your ship sinking, and you can't walk anymore on deck, that is a big shame :(
