For those who have held Trainz up as an example of how things should be done by VSTEP, it gives me no particular pleasure to point out that the future of Trainz is in doubt:
Auran Development is in Chapter 11, and the Trainz staff has been reduced to three people. Among those fired were Allan Yeomans, who manned the trouble board. Hopefully they will be able to recover and continue.
I bring this up to point out that, no matter how wonderful the product, a company needs to make money in order to survive; and, to suggest that the Trainz business model is, perhaps, not the best one for VSTEP to emulate after all.
