Couple of interesting DVD's
« on: January 27, 2008, 23:46:22 »

If you like old trawlers and fishing and can play region 2 dvd's I purchased a couple that are quite interesting from Amazon UK. They are "Distant Grounds trawling out of the ports of Hull And Grimsby" with films from the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's and "Trawling Hook, Line And Sinker an in depth look at life aboard a Scottish trawler" films appear to be late 40's to early 50's. Mind you although these are dvd's they are of old films and appear as they originally did. As one who likes to see the old boats I enjoyed these.

It's interesting when you compare these to the current Trawlermen series to see how much has changed and how much hasn't really.

Interesting stuff Russ :)

A friend of mine used to work out of Grimsby, on the trawlers (he was a skipper).  Unfortunately he passed away a couple of years ago :(

I wonder if he is on any of those DVD's though, would be nice if he was :)
