2 Joysticks.
« on: January 11, 2008, 22:32:46 »

I couldnt find it in any of the forums, so now i post the results of my test.

I bought 2 of Logitechs Joysticks, the model was Extreme 3D Pro. just to test the functionality of the supported 2 joysticks in the game.

First i will say that if you buy a new joystick of logitechs, you dont have to think about the compability with anything, because the software you download from their website, works for all new windows versions, including the 64 Bit versions of XP and Vista.
And the Logitech software also do the mapping job of the bottons on the joysticks for you, so the game reconise the bottons difrently.

So.. after i plugged em in, it tooks about 3 mins and i was running. and i can say it runs smooth...
Much easyer to steer the ships, specially the Anchor Handling Tug with all the thrusters and so on.

But then i will say, that the model of joysticks i bought isnt preferred.... if u ask me...
Simply because they automaticly will center the stick position, and they are very hard to keep down....

There i found the Force FeedBack joysticks much better, because you in the Logitech Software are able to turn down the center volume of the motor.... so they become much easyer and much more friendly to work with over longer time.

Tho you are able to use the throttle bottons on each joystick to keep the engine power up, both forth and back -100 - +100, (not like old joystick where its only possible from 0 - +100) i will still say that its preferred to buy Force Feed Back versions.

Anyway.... if you have any questions, just ask me.... but i just thought that if someone sits outhere and was thinking about buying 2 sticks, you can do it without problems... that is if you choose Logitech .... other brands i have not tested.

Hey DLK, untill recently I had the same joysticks..(Now I have a Saitek)
I found the throttle very small, and also the steering often did not centre, very annoying..
Hope you have better luck with yours.. ;)

Yes, the joystick I now have is also really meant for flight-sim..
It would be nice if someday a real ship-sim controller came on the market..
(and yes, I know of this thing..)  :)
