Hello all,

Since the off-topic in the "anchor-controll"-topic is getting out of hand, i would like to purpose to leave your Questions in here. ;)
I will do my best, to answer your questions, place pictures and links that help explaining.
And like LucATC said, this maybe coul help the dev's to get an inside view on inland-shipping, so it could become more realistic?

Feel free to drop your Q's here! :D

This is a good idea! ;D

Too bad I didn't see it before posting in the old "engines" topic. :-[

Cheers,
Michael

PS @ Luc -- the word is "INvaluable" -- meaning "can't be valued", therefore priceless, as opposed to UNvaluable, meaning NOT valuable  ;D ;D

Yes, we do have RoT-indicators on inland ships, most of them have. We need them for the Auto-pilot. ;D
We also have GPS, and there are computer-charts available as well who can co-operate with the GPS. I don't have those charts yet, but in the near future i will.

The max valeu for RoT? To be honest, i never really look at it. But if i go arround, it hits 90 degrees per minute easy, even without bowthruster. But my ship turns very easy, thanks to the Hitzler 3-rudder-system.

The inland-ships in SS06 turn WAY to slow, and thats WAY to bad.

Here's a part of my wheelhouse, without a wheel, that is. ;D We have rebuilded it this year, so thats why some stuff isn't in place yet on the pic. The green device with the 2 gauges is my auto-pilot, with RoT- and rudder-indicator. That green thing with the stick is my helm-stick.

Not exactly a question about handling or mechanics, but I was wondering:  What was your most interesting day working aboard an inland cargo vessel?

Hi

I don't know if this is relevant to inland shipping, but does anyone know what the 'stockholm rules' are in relation to freight and passenger shipping?

Captain Davies: The most interesting day?? Pfffff, thats a very hard one! Most days are interesting if you ask me. Offcourse i handled unusual cargo like a wheelhouse and hatches for a Coaster, but i've had to much intersting days, to pick one! ;D

Stuart, follow the link Luc gave you, because i don't know a thing abaut the Stockholm Rules! ::)
I've heard abaut it, but that's all.

Re stockholm.

Thanks. When I searched in google, didn't find anything. Looks like I've got a bit of reading...
