. The "Clara May" was originally built in Plymouth harbour, England and launched in 1891. It is a typical west coast of England trading ketch which could enter and easily manoeuvre in all kinds of harbours for loading and unloading merchandise directly on the pier. At first it carried a polacre rigging which was later changed to a ketch rigging, by which name it is known. In 1926 its rigging was reduced and it had a 2 cylinder 50 CV semi-diesel engine installed. The Clara May remained in service till 1953.
