Dear users,

Less then one year after the release of the Ship Simulator forum, which has proven itself to be very successful, we have decided to upgrade the forum to a new engine which has more features and is better maintainable.
On Thursday 26th of April there will be a new shipsim.com forum. All active users of the current forum will automatically be transferred to this new forum.

The advantages of this new forum are:
- It will be easier to create localized boards. The new forum will start with a English and German section. We hope to add a French board in the coming months.
- It gives administrators and moderators much more control over what's happening on the board and users can easily report unwanted topics to the moderators.
- More prevention of spam and advertisements posted on the forum

We will transfer all existing users to the new forum, we will not copy the existing topics and posts to the new forum. The new forum will contain extensive FAQ's which will answer all commonly asked questions and technical support requests.

The current forum will stay online until two weeks after the transition. During these two weeks the forum will be read-only, but will allow you to copy topics or posts to the new forum.

During the transition both forums will be offline. We expect the transition to be completed in a few hours. After that we hope to welcome you all on the new forum.

In addition to the post above, there will also be changes in the Highscore system.

There are currently two versions of the highscore system running side-by-side. The old system (until version 1.5 of Ship Simulator) and the new highscore systems. (Versions 1.6 and later)

We can only control the new system, the old system is 100% incorporated in the game and we are unable to change it. A patch is unnecessary because the latest patch already fixes the issue.

What will change:
- Only highscores uploaded with Ship Simulator 1.6 or later will be converted to the new forum. All other highscores will unfortunately be lost during the forum upgrade.
- Users with a Ship Simulator 2006 version older then 1.6 will NOT be able to upload their highscores anymore. They can solve the problem by updating to the latest version using the patches on the Downloads page.

Tomorrow, Thursday 26th April 2007, the Ship Simulator forum will go offline for a short time due to the announced forum upgrade. This upgrade is scheduled for 14:00 CET (GMT+1:00). The expected duration of the upgrade is three hours.

When the upgrade has finished, the new forum will be accessible via http://www.shipsim.com and http://forum.shipsim.com

All user information, including registered license keys and game earnings, will be automatically converted to the new forum. This also includes the highscores uploaded with version 1.6 or later.

We want to remind you that during the forum upgrade the highscore system in the game is also offline. When the upgrade has finished we recommend everyone to proceed to the "Settings - Profile" menu of the Ship Simulator game and re-validate your forum username and password.

Kind regards,
The Ship Simulator forum administrators
