Small TUG - Towing point
« on: October 27, 2007, 17:12:03 »

SS08 team,
i have observed at the small tug the connection it´s never placed at the mid (center part) of the towing winch. just after connecting the towing line from ship´s bow and or stern to the tug the end of line connected to the tug is always at the side of the winch and never at the center as it should be.

With those line connected out of the center of the towing winch this cause list to the tug when apply engine power more than 50% the tug will always turn to the same side where the towing line is connected at the winch.
Please verify and adjust for the lines to be placed at the mid of the winch.

Also During transversal towing (Pulling to umberth a vessel) the tugs are pulling and a relative force is applied to the lines the tug start to come closer to the towed ship, just like something from the ship is pulling the tug what is not normal. Please verify made some test and give us some news about it.

thanks very much for your attention.
Best regards Tavares
