Ocean star. I mostly play in harbor's where it is easier to control the ship. With the Titanic you can't just sail normally trough a harbor. But sometimes a play the phiphi islands or something like that. And with the more open waters there I mostly use the Titanic.

Greetings,
I have to say, that i like the Titanic in the game to.But i steer more the Ocean Star.
I like more the present models to steer on the game, like the multi-purpose cargo vessel.I'm sure it has something to do with my profession.
To me it gives me more a realistic feeling,to do that.

I just wish I could use the onboard cranes. I hate piloting the ship around with no cargo.

For me it is the Ocean Star.  Even though I love the challenge posed by handling an old ship such as the Titanic, it is controlling huge, modern day ships that holds the most appeal for me.

Yeah - what they are capable of is amazing.

Ships like this sail a lot with no cargo on the deck, beceaus most is underneath it.

I like the ocean star the most beceaus it has a lot of controls.

I like the Ocean Star because of her bridge. I don't go into the outside view much because it's more of a challenge from the bridge.

In real life, would a ship the size of the Ocean Star really be as responsive to the steering as the one in game is?

I'm pretty sure. VSTEP are very accurate when they're programing the vessels.

Not quite? An accurate model performs as expected by the developers, producing results in accordance with the desired results of beta-testers (for instance). That does not imply a realistic modelisation, where the model conforms to the dynamics of the represented ship.
E.g. the Ocean Star can be brought to a halt on 1.2 times its own length from 20 kts. Difficult to say it is realistic. It is most probably accurate, because she stops in 2.5 times her length by just letting her go.

Luc

Also it was pointed out by someone else here (sorry forgot who..) that things hve been tweaked to make them more playable... Many people would lose patience with a cargo ship that takes miles to turn/stop.

Maybe the editor in 08 we've heard about will allow dynamics o be changed. That way the serious skippers can adjust the stats o make it more realistic...

In real life her ROT and acceleration would be slower, however, slightly. The thrusters would not be so fast at turning the ship and the would move the ship sideways with a bit more effective.

However, I would say she is 80% realistic.
